Windows XP Startup Problem!!

Boot with the XP disk, and run the setup, at the prompt choose recovery. Does not mean it will fix it though.

WinME-display gets corrupted, fixed by game - Why?

It certainly is switching the video cards settings around. I would try palying with the display properties to get them where the monitor and video card can live happily together.

will newer agp 4x gfx cards work on older agp2x 440bx mobos (first gen p3 mobos)

Make certain to check your motherboards manufacture website for BIOS updates regarding video issues. You do not want to buy that card to find there is a problem. At least if you check first they may have a BIOS update for your board, and then it will go smoother. Always safe to check first.

Has nothing to do with the OS and everything to do with the BIOS. Check for BIOS updates from Abit, and apply as needed. Also check the monitor manufactures website for known issues (probably wouldn't fess to them even if they knew of them to be true). But Abit is a pretty responsive company...

What Ti4200 overclocks the best?

Get the cheapest one you can and try your luck, I think most of the 4200's run within 3% on the memory speed. Gainward makes a nice card but I have had two of there fans die on me and in turn killed the GPU. I don't use Gainward anymore. I prefer MSI now.

Anyone else prefer W2k to XP?

You can always setup XP to "feel" like XP. I think XP is a better OS but it definately looks like a childish OS. Very blocky and looks almost like a comic.
