GLSL question

I'm using RenderMonkey to do some cubemap and refraction stuff. I need to use a view_position vector for the calculations. It should have the same values/coordinates as the camera, right? So how do you pin a vec3 variable to the camera xyz values?

Downloaded first and last game with Steam-give me a DVD please

I download at up to 10MB/s so it's pretty swell. Obviously not everyone has 100Mbit uncapped connections. Hopefully one day it'll be as ubiquitous as electricity.

Borderlands 2... another AAA title bites the FXAA bullet......

Agreed, I wish they'd implement SMAA instead. The problem with using the injector is that it's applied to the GUI as well. When a PPAA solution is implemented by the devs, they can make it bypass the GUI render pass. I like the look of 16xQ CSAA (+TrSS if performance allows), but there's too...

I used to have that problem, where it'd take a long time to go to sleep. It's been getting easier since I started taking magnesium supplements though.

Didn't change anything. One problem is that I think the techniques I use to counteract obstructive sleep apnea (sleeping on my back only and using a wedge pillow) make me wake up more. But I've managed to not feel like a drugged zombie when waking up, so it's probably worth it. Would be nice to...

This problem started pretty much instantly about half a year ago. I always turn everything off and block out light. Not doing anything different except being in better shape now.

It's a bit better since I started doing exercises against obstructive sleep apnea, but I can tell I haven't slept enough. And several times throughout the day I feel the need to go to bed. Age 26, 6'1" and 190 lbs.

Only done some informal testing (i.e. gameplay) so far but it's noticeably faster than my SLI 460's and it seems very quiet even under load. Those big fans don't need much RPM.

Western characters in Japanese games

Why are so many big name Japanese video game characters Western/white? Mario, Contra dudes, Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon), Solid Snake, Resident Evil characters etc. Were they an attempt to make the games more globally accepted, even back in the NES days?

Stupid math problem

My math education has been rather sundry, so there's gaps in my knowledge. The four basic rules for inequalities, and multiplication by the LCD allow for solving a lot of inequalities, but I didn't quite get this one. Thanks for the helpful replies.

Stupid math problem

What's the thought process behind arriving at that, though? And for that condition I'm coming up with x ≤ -2 and x ≥ 1, whereas the correct answer is -2 ≤ x < 0 and x ≥ 1; what am I doing wrong?

Stupid math problem

I can't figure out how to do this, and googling doesn't seem to help either: Inequality: x + 1 ≥ 2/x Can't multiply by x since I don't know whether it's positive (and thus if the sign should be flipped). What's the method to use here?

DVD player slowing to a crawl

I'm trying to make an image of an old game CD (instead of running the actual CD; it's 16 years old now) but it causes the player to slow down so much that it'd take 10+ hours to do it. Is there a way to force it to stay revved up? The CD itself reads fine but I'd rather not run it for hours...

Dead Space 2 forcing reboot

It's a Corsair AX750, only a year old. Other, more taxing games work fine. It takes a few minutes of gameplay. I mean the reboot is instant, no warning, sound, or performance degradation. No BSOD.
