I am looking for a couple of bits of info re: the Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 board please.

under the "overvolting options" section, it states that the latest BIOS VDIMM goes up to 2.85v ?!?!
It doesnt...

Were you also getting regular cold-boot-up failures even though your O/C was fully stable when it *did* boot up properly ?

Am wondering which of the voltage lines +3.3v / +5v / +12v is most important to a stable / high overclock.
Reason I ask is that my rig [ A8V / 3200+939 / 1gig Corsair ] is fully P95, CPUBurn etc ... stable for over 24 hours at 9.5 x 274 @ 1.55v = 2.602gig.

I cant tell from the website if the OCZ Powerstream 520 has (1) or (2) fans ?

Could this be my problem with the random locking up / freezing ?
Bear in mind that I have Kingmax DDR 500 Cas 3 memory.
I just ran Memtest 1.40 with my machine set at all default values ie: 3200+ @ 10 x 200 all default BIOS auto settings.
Memtest was fine - 60 mins - 2 passes - 0...
Noticed on some other forums that 1009.005 is now out - will try that out soon.
In the meantime, from digging through google, it seems that the only actual / known working fix for this A8V random freezing / locking up problem is to me DISABLE the Yukon LAN in the BIOS and use a PCI-Lan card...

- 3200+ 939 @ 2.55gig @ 1.575v
- Beta BIOS 1009.004
- 2 x 512 Kingmax DDR500 @ Cas 3 @ 1:1 @ 2.8v

Guess what - I finally got to try some differnent RAM and all seems well - problems have disappeard.
If it helps others, I am using 2 x 512 Kingmax "Hard-core" DDR 500 / PC4000 Super RAM Series " - it is Cas 3 & cost me ~$250US for the 2 sticks.

Ran Memtest 1.40 - as time was limited, I let it run for one hour - no problems - did 2 passes in that time with 0 errors.
Also, I noted that Asus Probe lists the 12v line a +/- %10 - so I figure 11.7 <-> 11.8 is probably OK ?
Is it *imperative* that I run Memetest until it stops ...
Update - put the HDD jumper on 6 & 4 as per the WD website - no change.
As my AsusProbe version was quite old - 2.21.04 - I uninstalled it, cleared out all related Registry entries and d/loaded the latest version from the german FTP - tested after several re-boots etc ... figures are...

My setup is: WD 80 EIDE by itself in IDE 1 wiht nothing esle + CD and DVD on IDE 2.
As such, I have *no* jumpers in the WD drive.
Is this OK ?
Or should I have the jumper in PIN 6 & 4 or 5 & 3 - as per WD instructions ?

Could this be indicative of the P/Supply ?

Just tried with 1 stick of my ram in slot 3 and the DDR voltage at 2.7v and the problems are much less, but I am still getting:-
- freezing on the occassional cold-boot up
and
- on my first cold-boot after doing a Drive Image backup file
Any thoughts ?

Glad that I was of some help - those generic D43 sticks are awesome value for money.
That 60+C temp you are getting:-
- is that at idle at stock speed
or
- is it at full / stress load at your 250mhz overclocked speed ?

Even with the latest Abit Bios for the AV8, doesnt the board still report the wrong CPU temp ?
The other thing putting me off the Abit is RAM compatabiltiy - with the Asus, it has a verified RAM list, which includes my Hynix D43 ram - with the Abit, apparently RAM...

Narowwed my new A64 939 board down to a Asus A8V or Abit AV8.
I will be using a 90nm A64 3000+ 939 cpu - aim is to O/C as high as I can on Zalman 7000 air.
Just a couple of questions:-
=> does the Asus A8V Rev 2.0 definetly have a PCI/AGP lock ?
=> whats the story...
Yep - all the high end Corsiar, Geil, OCz etc..... was using the D43 chips - thats why I hunted down some generic-el-cheapo DDR400 with the D43's on them.
I am really attracted to the Giga board because it is so damn cheap - for the money it is untouchable.
The Asus and/or Abit boards...

My generic 2 x 512 sticks are the D43 variety - they need 2.75 to be stable at 269 @ 1:1 but 2.75v is pretty much nothing for the Hynix D43 chips - I dont know why, but the D43 chips are the ones to get.
