Boot Problem with Tyan Tiger MP

I don't see how it can be heat related, since it runs fine when it's on. It will be sitting at a certain temperature when it's on, or in a range of temperatures, bnut once you turn it off it will only cool down from there. So when you reboot it will, if anything, be cooler. There's no reason why...

Um... Misshapen P4 Heatplate

I considered it but I really don't like the idea of metal shavings near my processor. : ) I took it back today and got a new one, it has a nice flat heatplate and has been running beautifully. Thanks for that advice though.

Thanks for the reply. I know, it does suck. I mean, if I was a motherboard, and some heatsink tried to flex me like that, I wouldn't stand for it. I'd be whooping heatsink ass. :)

Question about an Intel 440LX memory options

texun, I would be simply whacking it in and putting power through it - that shopuld tell you. If it doesn't work look for a BIOS update, although you'd need a temporary stick to flash the BIOS with. I can't see how it could explode / damage components but don't blame me if it does : ) Actually...

My 4G4A+ overclocking experience

yep, 1.5V is the default for the Northwood's (P4 x.xxA). Damn, 160FSB at stock voltage is pretty impressive! You must have got a nice processor. :D

I picked up an 8IEXP today, with a P4 1.8A, and my god it runs nicely. I can't really back that up though cause I haven't run an OS on it yet - I forgot to recompile my linux kernel with P4 support (nice one Ben), cause my last system was an Athlon one, and I didn't realy feel like installing...
