Arctic Silver III or Arctic Alumina or Céramique by Arctic Silver

I would go with ceramique.It isn't conductive and therefor shouldn't void warranty.Its thicker than arctic silver so you have to play with it a little more to get a nice thin spread.It works just as good if not slightly better.

Overclock 2.C FSB800

Raise you FSB another 5-10 FSB,but put your dram ratio on 3:2 (266).For now I recommend 3:2 and memory timings of 2.5/3/3/7 to find out the limit of your CPU.Just keep raiseing the FSB until you can't boot into windows.From here you can add vcore voltage from 1.525 to 1.575 preferrably.Just...

ASUS P4P800 Delux, 2.8ghz p4. Good to overclock?

Did you buy that stuff already?.I would say get the 2.6C they are overclocking like crazy,same with the 2.4C.As far as a mobo I would recommend the Abit IC7 (non G) unless you need raid.Otherwise your fine with the P4P800 and 2.8C.

Pull it and try it.Yeah the SL6RZ Malay was good but the best one was the Costa Rica SL6RZ I think week 52.All you can do is try it cause they vary.

hmmm,there are 2 ways you can try.While booting hit escape key to bring up the boot sequence (depending on what you have for mobo it can be F3 or other key,maybe F4.You can go into the bios where boot selection is listed.Make sure your hard drive is selected as one of the boot devices.Usually...

help me pick :(

For a cheap board the SOLTEK SL-75FRN2-L for $88 or raid version for $99 at newegg is pretty good.There is a thread in the motherboard section on this model and most seem to really like it.My first pick would be the Epox 8RDA+ for more money.

Arctic Silver and Amd/Intel warrantys?

P4c performance is TERRIBLE

The paste is probably going to be squishing out all over the place when you take the heatsink off.Too much paste will cause excesssive heat.

should I get better memory for my IC7?

What CPU are you running and what does it overclock too?.This will tell you if you need better ram.My 2.4C does 3.4-3.5GHz so i need better ram to 5:4 ratio 450-460DDR.The kingston 3000 is good and you can run tight timings with it.The only thing is if it overclocks well you will probably only...

P4c performance is TERRIBLE

You need to spread the paste thin like paint and don't plug the hole on teh heatspreader.Also I assume you took off the thermal pad on the P4 heatsink before you put on the paste.

Thats someone elses rig.eva2000.I have a 2.4C at 3.4GHz at 5:4 450 DDR.I can go higher but the IC7 won't let me go past 282-283 FSB and thats at 1.55 vcore.

By the way,I can run 2.5/3/3/7 2.8 vdimm DDR 500 with the OCZ. I won't say everybody that buys that ram will run that but there is a good chance it might.They have an excellent RMA service too.

2.4C vs. 2.8C?

I run 3Dmark no problems either with XP Pro DirectX 9.The 2.8C would be better if you can run 250 DDR 500 1:1.Some of the Costa's are pretty good.Your not going to know unless you try it.I am running a 2.4C at 5:4 280FSB 448 DDR 2/3/3/6 timings.I am considering a 2.8C myself if I can find one...

OCZ RMA.

OCZ has great customer support.They replaced my OCZ PC3500 EL dual channel with 2 sticks that did 476 and 474 DDR.Plus thay gave me an OCZ Ratzpad,OCZ paste and a Gladiator 2 heatsink and fan and shipped it overnight or 2 days to Canada.This was about 6 months ago:) .I now have the OCZ Gold...

Here is how the ratios work.With a "B" CPU 266=1:1 333=4:5 and auto I think is by speed (not sure).With a "C" CPU 266=3:2 320=5:4 400=1:1 and auto I think by speed (not sure again).

NFORCE 2 and OCZ Gold pc3500/pc3700

I can't confirm but I did read something about the Gold on the Nforce 2 boards not being that great.I'll see if I can find some info.If you contact OCZ they will tell you and they are very good and will reply fairly quicky,excellent RMA service also,the best as far as I am concerned.

Skipping bios 1006 can give you problems overclocking between 166 and 199 FSB.Just put 1006 on a floppy and follow the instructions.After you have flashed 1006 and you can go straight to 1008.004 (the latest) if you like.

We didn't just slap in ram in both slots and say they both work.We ran Prime95 overclocked on each set of slots with both chips and noticed this.Also,for people having problems not being able to overclock on this board like they did with their previous board with a "B" chip.You "MUST" flash bios...
