Abit ip35-e new build on wolfdale - help with some problems

I'm running an Abit I35 Pro, but I believe this information is correct. It always starts out with the CMOS checksum error because the clear bios jumper is enabled by default (when the board is shipped). Is this jumper still on clear CMOS? Check your manual. My computer always shuts down...

Loaded up my new OCZ PC2 8500 memory. Stable on Memtest86+ and SP2004 for 7 hours. Finally! Guess I damaged my memory when my MB shorted. Only took me 3 motherboards, 2 sets of RAM, and 2 power supplies to get a stable set up....

Cannot run HL2 benchmark after steam upgrade...

After Steam forced the "stuttering" update on me, I cannot run the packaged demos courtesy of Anandtech for benchmarkings. The console says" cannot run demos, HL engine number 7, current engine 8". Anyone know of any new demos, or how I can put my own together?

Any success with O/C non-VIVO X800 pro?

I will try to push up the core and memory again to see what's up. I found out that my CTD in HL2 was not due to overclocking my video card, but likely the result of my sound card. This "stuttering" problem has been discussed in the Overclockers forum.

I downloaded the updated bios from the Asus site for my AV8 mainboard. However, when I unzip it, it has a file extension *.AMI instead of *.rom. Can someone please explain this?

Will the Enermax be enough?

I just purchased the 480W coolergiant from Enermax. I like the additional fans and blower over the CPU. My CPU is actually running about 3-5 C cooler with this fan. Running a similar setup (only OC to 2.4, however) with no problems.

90nm a64 which chip (overclocking)

Purchased a 3000+ (retail) from zipzoomfly for $185. Running at 2430 (1.55 v) with retail heatsink/fan with PC 2700 at 2.7V @178 (133 divider). Stable with temps from 38-40. Minimal heat jump under load. I would have to use a 100 divider for the RAM to push it higher so haven't tried...

Wouldn't it be better to buy cheaper, faster RAM?

I am running my Athlon 3000+ at 2430 with PC 2700 DDR RAM due to the memory divider. I would see how high you could overclock your CPU before investing significantly in new RAM.

Next step for poor Athlon 64 3000+ o/c?

Knocking the memory and HT down another notch did it, thanks. Memory was holding me back. Currently running at 2250; Memory 160; HT X3; 1.60 V 39 degrees C after benchmarking. I cannot go higher than 250 FSB through software but will try to mess with the bios later. This rocks!
