So anyways, been using it for over a week now, and really the only complaint I have is the view angle. Otherwise I love it. Also love the new headphone jack with volume control thats built in :-p.
For those more technologically minded, here is the actual panel with the OEM specs: (this is the actual panel, not a link to the samsung monitor.)
http://www.samsung.com/Product.../LTM190EX/LTM190EX.htm
This monitor is a rebadged Samsung SyncMaster 913N/915N with DVI added (same everything else.. including buttons). If you want more information about it, search for that model on google.
Its not quite as bad as it can only display 260k colors, I wouldn't be comfrotable with that either. Each pixel can only display 262k colors individually, so it uses hardware dithering. Unless you are pressed with your face against the screen, its unnoticible.
I watched a few movies on it...
I think the colors are pretty good. Certainly not as nice as the viewsonic CRT I am retiring, but nice enough that I am not worried. I did a little bit of photo editing last night, and found it suprisingly accurate.
the ws/fs was just my 2 cents into the whole which is better thing, this...
it allows you to change between DVI and analog on osd. haven't tested to see if it auto detects, but it did know I was using dvi... (don;t have an extra analog source to test) no Svideo input.
oh, the on screen display for the dell was nice, this one has a very very basic one. apparently hyundai did not use samsungs firmware unfortunatly, so no nice graphic menus... all the same (and expected) options though
Got the hyundai today, very very nice
I am one of the unfortunate ones who got 2 defective fpw2500s so I can compare.
this is much brighter... and it looks sharper.
the color is not nearly as vibrant as the dell, but the blacks are much darker. I think the contrast is better, but its...
The Hyundai is a samsung panel. I would take samsung over viewsonic for LCD...
But its also a TN panel, so not true 16.7 million colors, thats why the response and price difference.
The Hyundai IS 8 ms. It's basically a rebadged samsung with DVI added. It is the new Samsung 8ms TN panel. That means its not true 16.7 million color, but 262k dithered, but supposedly the new samsung panels look really really good, and its barely/not noticible.
Also don't be fooled by numbers, the actual gray-gray response is ~20ms usual, 10ms in some areas. This is still exceptionally fast and will leave you with no ghosting. (much faster than most monitors labled as 16 ms response)
Matters which human you ask :-p
Umm it wold not be ideal for lots of image editing and such things.
Personally, I think its fine since I do a lot of web browsing and gaming...
I have had such a bad time with Dell (2 2005s had to go back because of massive backlight on #1 and 12 dead...
Just to give you a heads up for the Hyundai, it IS a great monitor, but it is not true 16.7 mil colors, it is one of the panels that must use dithering.
No thats the 1-800-624-9896.
I did finally get through a fe mintues after that last post... they then told me I have to be at my house between noon - 5 on Monday for UPS to get it, no other options but to send it myself.
Last time I bought from Dell, they had not yet sent all their CS...
I don't recommend anybody buy a 2005fpw.
I bought one on 12/27 using 25% off plus 35$ off coupons 610$ shipped inc. tax.
It had no dead pixels, but almost 25% of the screen was blurred white. An obvious flaw anybody who turned it on could see. After reading hard forums and seeing dell...
You may wanna hold off on this one.
I was under the impression the the newly made ones did not have the bleedthrough problem.
I just recieved mine today, having ordered after Christmas, Dec A00 revision.
Plenty of Bleedthrough.
I missed the 45$ coupon by a matter of minutes, now am waiting for another.... :(
So here is a question, what is the response time on the 2001? I am still up in the air between it and the widescreen....
SWEET!!!
I was looking at it not in stock in my area, hit refresh and now it says it is :-D
They do hold ift for you if you order online for pickup right?
Just want to point out that both that 15" and 17" balance are both .16ms response time, so I am more inclined to believe that this is a .16 as well, and they mistyped .15 instead of .16. (do you really think the data entry people for walmart.com have the specs for rise and fall time?)
I just got a week 30. It won't go 2.2 on default voltage. It WILL do it at 1.75, but I don't want to use a noisey HSF so I think I will stay at 2.1 (where it works at default).
Thank you all for your input. I decided to go with the NF7-S. I am disappointed about lack of gamepot, but maybe its about time I got a new flight stick... my old 2 axis (with throttle!) 4 button one is kinda played out.
hehe as much as I'd love to, it is 40$ more. I am a starving med student who can't afford this as it stands. Is the NFII REALLY that much better? (30% more costly...)
I am seriously leaning towards the new NF7-S because I have no need for an extra LAN (I have my 3Com if I need it) and I think 4 USB is enough for me. Am I missing an extra advantage of the ASUS?
I am considering both, as they seem comparable. It will be pared with a retail Barton 2500+ which I will be overclocking ONLY WITH A STANDARD HS/FAN (I can't stand the sound of my Delta Black label anymore).
I can get the Refurb ASUS at newegg for 69$ + 20$ for accessories (so I have...
