Umm he's not burning it in, he just wants to make sure its stable. However if you are going to be running seti on the computer, you might wanna test with prime 95 for 24 hours.
While I am going to have to agree that watercooling is near silent, there are better ways to reach a quiet pc. And cheaper. You can use sound dampening material, you can get larger fans at slower rpms. You can get a hard drive enclosure that dampens sound from that too.
Well that graph could easily be missunderstood. Sure the 2200+ uses less power, but the core is smaller so that heat has less area to leave from. So in effect the cores would actually be closer together then one would think. I'm actually not sure which would run hotter.
I also thought that running the cpu and the memory at the same frequency was benefitial, so I was very confused the first time I heard about these ratio boards. So anyone care to fill me in?
Sorry but I'm going to have to agree here. If you turned it on with the heat sink off for even a few seconds its toast. Too bad you didn't have a p4(or a motherboard that takes advantage of AMD's thermal protection), I think the thermal protection on them would have saved you.
Of course the g4 go is better then a radeon mobility considering that vpu is like over a year old. The radeon 7500 mobile on the other hand performs almost neck in neck with the g4 go.
I'm not saying he can't I'm just saying I think he can't. Because I have tried in the past and unless its like a registry entry, I can't figure it out.
I did some research on the 8200 to see what it was all about. I must say I am slighly impressed. I looked at the options and there is a 15" UltraSharp UXGA display available. It has a 25ms response time and a 1600x1200 resolution which is pretty damn good for an lcd. If I were to get an lcd...
Well I'm now considering getting the ss51 with a radeon 9700. I didn't know it overclocked in 1mhz intervals. Can anyone tell me the max supported chip speed on that motherboard? With the prices going down on Sept 1 (on the p4s not the case), its looking very attractive to me.
Man you and I have a totally different deffinition of totally well. Do you really consider having to make the operating system run at a bare minimum and still being slow "real well". Heck using win xp on a celeron 1.7 with 128 seems like hell to me.
Thats a pretty good price. I suggest you go for it, but I think it would be a better buy with a 1600+ as they overclock quite well and should be cheaper.
I say format. Nothing like a clean install to speed up performance and increase reliability. Heck you probably have adware you didn't even know of on your computer anyways.
another option it to hotkey stuff. That is what I do. I have winamp to ctrl-alt-z and starcraft to ctrl-alt-s. You can do this by right clicking on a program in the start menu, going to properties and adding a hotkey.
I think you managed to actually connect the cable to your hard drive on backwards. I heard putting it on backwards does that. Make sure the colored strip on the ide cable is in the pin 1 spot on the hard drive.
I don't think that is what he means. I think he means he wants it by my documents not in the "programs" start menu. So the answer then is no I don't think you can do it.
Isn't the Geforce 4 mobile based on the mx core? If it is then there is quite a bit that it can't do. The 7500 mobility can don almost anything you need it to though.
The TI4200 is better all around. Nvidia has excellent driver support and the card is better at gaming. While I like ATI I still dislike their driver support.
I was going to go and suggest alienware cause I'm rather fond of the 7500 mobile they put in their computers. However my recommendation if you want your laptop to last is get a G4 440 mobile or a Radeon 7500 mobile.... But make sure it has 64Mb of ram. However nothing you buy will get 900 fps...
In my experience no. I have two long cables attached to my hub. 1 50 foot to my hub from my router and 1 75 foot from my hub to my computer. Amoung a few shorter ones to other computers in the house.
I'm surprised this particular fix hasn't been more widely distributed. I'm sure many people are just as annoyed with "my documents" as you and me. I implemented that particular fix months ago and I love it.
You know I'm still kinda new around here but I'm already getting tired of people who don't use the search function. There is a faq here too somewhere I think.
I think the reason nobody is replying is because we are all jeleous. Anways 60C would be a good high to set it to. Though you can set it higher if you want. I would say max 70C though.
You may notice a difference going from a 1.33 to a higher athlon, but you should ask yourself do you really need more processing power. I mean what do you do with your computer? I would save the money to get a better monitor or to upgrade later when you will notice more of a difference.
Yeah the desknotes are pretty cool idea. However keep in mind that you will be having no built in battery though you can order external ones, they are bulky and heavy. Don't think of Desknotes as a laptop though, more of a desktop replacement.
