Yo, congrats man. I just finished up my first semester at MIT...I love it here...hopefully you will to. And it's all about hitting up the BU girls...not so much the Harvard ones tho. Harvard kids seem to keep to themselves. Like I said, BU....also, Wellesley. Actually, MIT gives out a BOATLOAD...

Fixed it. The problem was, when I was installing all the hardware, I attached the front output for the speakers, and later disconnected it. What I forgot when I disconnected it was that the connector for it on the motherboard originally had two jumpers on it; one connecting L+ and L-, and one...

I've got a 2800+...newegg was great. ordered the parts on sunday, selected rush processing ($2.99 on a ~$2000 purchase....no way I'm not getting that), it shipped out monday. got the monitor and speakers on wednesday and the rest on thursday. and yeah, i've tried all the different audio ports...

tried that...double checked about 10 times. even if it WAS set to only 2 speakers...wouldn't the sound be coming out of the front output, not the rear output? i'm getting sound for the rear, but not for the front.

Yes, the beeping comes from your motherboard. The reason why it's only happened with this one is because not all motherboards do it. I would guess that you could shut that off fairly easily by looking around your BIOS to change something along the lines of beeping on errors...check your manual.

I just surpassed 30 days uptime on my Windows2000 SP3 workstation!

I never really get to test my uptime, because I shut off my computer everynight....father's mandate...g'ah. NightFlyer, nice car, can I have your engine? ;) I have a 1983 Rabbit, been lookin to get an '86 GTI engine and swap it in (double the horsepower...)

WD or Maxtor? Help me choose...

Right now I'm a bit angry at Maxtor (Quantum/Maxtor 30gb Fireball Plus AS just died on me last week), so I'd say WD simply because of the higher performance. If its 8mb cache, that is.

Ok, I think I'm stumped.....this is a new one. I need some help.

Hmm...maybe his PS got a surge, and the reason why the CD broke was because the CDROM drive got a sudden burst of power and spun the CD too fast?? No idea if that's even possible, just throwing the idea out there.
