W2K Problems

I'm back up and running. Did a repair install from the W2K CD and everything is working fine now. Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions.

Monitor Trouble - Where do I start?

When I checked the connection on the back of the monitor it was practically hanging off. Tightened it up and restarted...that did the trick, monitor is back to normal. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!!! Buzzman, I'll keep your last suggestion in mind when it really does goes.

Monitor Trouble - Where do I start?

As I was looking at my monitor this morning, the screen flickered and a yellow tinge was apparent on the screen. Turned the power on and off but the tinge was still there. How would I start troubling shooting something like this?

Setting CPU Speed

Couldn't find the setting in the BIOS but was able to track down the correct jumper and changed it. CPU speed now shows as 1396Mhz. THANK YOU!!

Setting CPU Speed

I replaced my Epox 8K7A+ MB several months ago with the same model and just discovered that my WIN2000 system and other pgms are displaying my CPU speed at 1 GHz instead of what I actually have, an AMD Thunderbird 1.4 GHz. I checked out the BIOS and reviewed the manual, maybe I missing...

Swapping Mobo w/Same Model

From what I can tell, the only difference is the raid controllers. The one I currently have has raid but I'm not using it?the new one is the non raid version.

Swapping Mobo w/Same Model

I've read several posts here about when changing a mb you should reinstall the os. What if you're changing the board with the same make and model mb? Example, swapping an Epox 8k7a defective board with a good 8k7a? What it still be advisable to reinstall the os or can I get away with not...

Computer Doesn't Stay On

Thought I found the problem, even bought a new vid card, but the same thing happens; 1 or 2 seconds after starting it powers down. I disconnected every device including memory but no go. The funny thing is once is a while I try disconnecting something, for example my CD-RW, and it will stay...

HELP!!!! IBM ThinkPad A21m keeps shutting down

I had the same exact symptoms except is was on my desktop. Harvey suggested I unplug all devices one by one and try to restart each time. When I got to the vid card, the system started to boot up. Turned out to be some kind of short on the vid card...when the power supply detected it, it shut...

What I did was start disconnecting all the devices one by one and starting after each one. When I pulled out the vid card and tried to start, BINGO, started right up. I then wanted to see what would happen if I put the vid card back in and then start it. Well, it started up normally. I...

Computer Doesn't Stay On

This problem just started today, when I turn on the power on my machine and then press the on switch, I hear the system starting up( hard drives and fans) but after about 3 second the power goes off. Pressing the on switch again doesn't do a thing. I have to turn the power off and then back on...
