Lost Sound

Yes i tried reinstalling sound card drivers and made sure the bios has sound enabled , Device manager shows working properly but under sounds and multimedia , record and playback is still greyed out. Even tried a SBLive card and get the same thing. Gotta be a registry problem i guess? Looks like...

Lost Sound

My g/f's system suddenly lost all sound. I checked Control Panel> Sounds , it is all greyed out. I uninstalled all multimedia devices from Device Manager and rebooted. Windows detected the onboard sound and reinstalled the drivers. Still no sound,Control Panel shows all devices greyed out...

Looking for good 15" LCD

Contrast Ratio, the higher the better ( 300 is good ) Response time, lower is better Most lower end Monitors have response times of 30 - 50 msec which can cause some Ghosting in games. This is why i think Rad 5 is your best bang for the buck. Go to pricewatch.com and search Rad 5, prices start...

Looking for good 15" LCD

I would be suspicious of the specs on the Prelude, 10 msec response time? (i dont think so) 16 msec is the fastest i've seen. Any way i own a KDS Rad 5 , the response time is 25 msec and is a very good monitor for gaming and watching DVDs. Good bang for the buck and 3 year warranty too. Review...

What would folks reccomend for a good HSF for OC?

If you really wanna save some cash an sk-6+ will keep it cool as well, i run a t-bird 1200@1450 and my temps are36c idle/ 41c load. with a Delta Fan.

Fine, my 3dMark scores AND!!! my unreal tournament benchmark!

I agree with Rogue, O/c'd my 1200 T-bird to 1333, advanced ram settings to Turbo> 4way interleave and increased my 3dmark score by 1400 points. Thats with a R8500LE so i imagine you would see similar improvements if not better!

That was a good deal on those cards eh :) that's why im trying so hard to get it to run stable. Anyway i think my problem was the PSU (too low @230 watts) A few others told me i needed more juice because i actually underclocked the card a little (240x240) at it's rock solid now. Even at that...

I just swapped PSU's and it still locks up with a 300 watt unit. The mouse noise i spoke of comes from the PC speaker if that means anything?

I am stumped !! My ATI 8500 LE(Built by ATI) is locking up my system? When i say locking up i mean the hard drive is not working, everything is frozen and when i move the mouse it makes a zipping clicking type noise. It is not as bad as the first card i returned but when i go to full screen...

Help! Radeon 8500LE only works in AGP 2X mode!

I'm not sure but i have loaded all the latest Via drivers > ATI drivers and all windows updates for 98 SE, it has crashed once since i changed AGP to 2x , the other card would crash out my system after 2 mins into a game. BTW the same system with a gf2 mx and radeon 7500 installed ran smooth...

Hey jiffylube we must be neighbors cause i picked one up at the best buy in mississauga too for $149 and had the same problem on 2 machines i tested, so i took it back and got another figuring it must be a overheating problem(crappy fan on the ati built ones) Anyway the second one didnt crash...

Power Management Problem(monitor)

I recently setup a friends system with Win 98 SE and he wants the monitor set to shut off after 15 mins but leave all other options(hard disk etc.) set to never shutoff. When i move the mouse after it has shut off the monitor light goes from flashing(standby) to on (solid) ,it seems to want to...

I just finished building my first system, all went fairly smooth except for my sound problem i have none. I loaded the drivers for the ac97 Via PCI Controller and device manager reports no problems but in Control panel >multimedia everything is greyed out and no speaker icon in the taskbar...

System beeps at powerup

It was the ram, wasnt seated properly,Thanks! Now if i can only get by "Verifying DMI Pool Data" :( The rest of the screen shows CPU ,HD's, Floppy Etc.

Abit kt20:Maximum CPU Speed?

I just picked up the board above and from the old reviews i could find on google it says the MoBo will supprt Duron 600 to 750 mhz and Athlon 700 to 1200 mhz (200 fsb) The Chipset is a kt133 (VT8363/VT82C686B) I'm wondering if this chipset will handle the newer Morgan Core Durons 1.0 to 1.3 ghz...
