Huge heatsink, do I need a fan?

First, let me apologize for any ignorance I may be showing :) I recently won a P4 2.4Ghz Processor from a Dell give-away, the chip says: 2.40GHz/512/800 SL6WF Phillipines 7324A062 With it came a pretty big heatsink: 25mm L x 20mm W x 21mm H But that was it, no fan and no spot on the heatsink...

Where's that 9800?

Been looking for so long :( Anyone know where I can get my hands on a "made by ATI" Radeon 9800 Pro? In the United States that is. Or does anyone know the next ship date? At this rate, I may just wait for the NV35/R400 battle.

Recommendations on CD-Writers?

Just wondering what you guys would recommend choosing between the 3000+ (2.16GHz) and the 2800+ (GHz) Bartons (512 L2 Cache) when there is approximately a $100 difference. Is the $100 justified in performance?

IDE Round Cables

i am thinking about picking up a new large HD most likely the WD2000JB (ne comments on this drive?)

Some restore CDs check to make sure the system is exactly the same, so not sure if the new hard drive will make the restart CD fail.

AMD 2800+ Thoroughbred not Barton

Not that I have much choice, as I cannot find the 2800+ Thoroughbred :) Thanks for the info, I remember reading somewhere that the 2800 Thoriughbred was a better performer than the 2800+ Barton, but I can't seem to find this anywhere.

thanks for replying, unfortunately newegg doesn't bundle the 2800+ with the Epox 8RDA, so I can't get those 2 from newegg. I was thinking of getting the 9800 Pro since i game a lot, do you recommend another brand (Sapphire) besides ATI?

Wow, again thanks for the replies guys, didn't expect many people to care :) BuffBoyBradley, will the 8RDA and the 2800+ make use of the DDR3200? That is the main reason why I chose the DDR2700 (and ofcourse price). nourdmrolNMT1, thanks I was not aware of that!

Thanks for replying, I was considering the 8RDA+ but I have a Sound Blaster Live! now, and did not think I needed another Sound Card. I game a lot, but Sound isn't really one of my priorities. Do you think an upgrade in sound is worth it?
