Yep and I did another run with power target up and ran it through twice and it still stayed below 78C. There isn't much headroom to OC it since the board won't allow more than 265 watts. I couldn't stay at 1100 without it downclocking on its own in a game. It's a shame that the 1.2v isn't...
I ran Heaven and got 1058/993 without touching anything in Precision. Benchmark barely hit 75C on both cards. Fan was bout 75% max and wasn't annoying at all. The 680's fan has a higher pitched sound. Looks like my signature is a worse card than my regular SC. I'll do another run maxing the...
ruh roh. Could this be why my whole neighborhood is complaining of awful TV rand radio reception. And also why the neighborhood dogs howl all throughout the day and night?
Can you post a link if you found one? I checked awhile back and didn't see a 110v-->12vDC 5A. I have been actively cooling mine. The brick was reaching 120F(checked with a IR thermometer) and I put it on a laptop cooler I wasn't using and I rigged an old case fan for the top with a spare...
I doubt Intel will be passing the savings on to the consumers. Little competition from AMD and higher process costs means it will be reinvested and possibly some will go to the stakeholders. It will enable them to undercut AMD but I don't see the need for it.
Virtualization. Old Windows versions on Ebay are pretty cheap and virtualbox is free. I have Win 3.1,Win95 and XP virtualized. It won't run demanding games but simpler titles run fine.
Yes they are A- either because of backlight bleed, bad pixels or color acuracy. If a customer buys one that is pixel perfect than it will definitely have one or both of the other two problems. I know some people would have a problem with the bleed just not the vast majority. The increased...
Backlight bleed is overrated. My Shimian has it fairly bad but I never notice it. How often do you stare at black screens? You can save almost $400 and for that discount there are less inputs, no speakers, no OSD and a little backlight bleed. I personally never need the speakers. The inputs...
The Shimian doesn't require removing anything except 1 screw for the included stand to mount a VESA stand to it. It seems to be the one to get if you want to use the VESA mounts.
I just bought a Square Trade warranty for my Shimian. It looks like the price has gone up to $383 for a pixel perfect. It might be a better deal to get one of the MicroCenter monitors now although I read somewhere that if it dies in a year it has to be shipped and can't be exchanged at the store...
It does seem strange to push people to 670's when you change hardware every 2 weeks Don. LOL How much $$$ do you save by swapping parts out all the time?
If not having stuck/dead pixels is important to you then I would. They allow up to 5 of them if you don't get a pixel perfect monitor. It may also be difficult to get a Square Trade warranty if you don't as they would be considered "as is".
LOL....the price for the classy isn't too bad, but the fact they make you buy the backplate and EVBot is ridiculous. However, the EVBot may go on sale again as it did when the 580 classy was released.
There is a thread at OCN where the power brick was 240v but it tested fine. I don't think it would turn on if it weren't right. Does the transformer get real hot? Mine feels like it is about 100F.
If you have an Nvidia card you simply set a custom resolution and increase the hertz and test it. If it fails to come on in 2 seconds just hit esc and it will go back. I think the crossovers are the only ones that OC very much.
Anubis: My screws were 12mm with my stand so I shortened them to...
I just got mine set up. The screws that came with the WalMart stand were too long so they had to be cut with a dremel. So far everything looks okay. I used my old monitor plug for the transformer because ta planet sent a 2 prong round plug which won't work. So you guys in the US that ordered a...
The WalMart stand. I think there is a link earlier in the thread. It looks like it holds a larger/heavier monitor than the monoprice stand. Mine was from TA Planet and it just left Alaska via FedEx. I hope it will arrive Monday.
The real time protection seems to want to block a good share of websites. MSE will warn but allow you to proceed. Malware bytes makes it look like you can't connect. So it has to be turned off to proceed to that website. The actual scanning for malware though is top notch and it has saved me...
I don't think the framerate is being reported accurately. It shows me getting about 200 FPS with 1 680 but there is a lot of mouse lag with 2xMSAA. When I reenable SLI it still shows about 200 FPS but the mouse lag is gone. I think R* doesn't know how to code a PC game.
I ordered a pixel perfect Shimian yesterday. No delivery info yet but hopefully I'll get it early next week. I ordered an adjustable stand and a dual link DVI cable just in case.
Yes most decent new ones are Active PFC. I have a non-sine APC and my power supply made a very loud buzzing noise as it was correcting the waveform. I always shut my PC down after I save my work since I think it can damage the power supply if it is run for a long time like that.
I cloned my Intel G2 80GB to a M4 128GB and it was almost twice as fast. Of course that is going from Sata 2 to Sata 3. I have the AS SSD benchmark pics if you want me to post them.
I have never reinstalled since 2004 over multiple upgrades, except when I went from XP to W7. Even an upgrade to AHCI doesn't need it. You simply need to update the registry to tell Windows to load the AHCI driver.
Yes at 8X MSAA it not only fills up 2GB at 1080P but it also pegs my 680's at full load with vsync on. Occasionally at 4X it did the same. Now I just need to get Sparse Grid working.
Don't go bringing CE2 into the conversation now. I've upgraded several times since 2007 and the 2nd level in Crysis still runs in the 30's in town. To me that is not scaling. There is an engine limitation somewhere where there is inefficient use of resources. Crysis isn't GPU limited anymore by...
Maybe you can really OC that 2600K when you get done? :) 1.32v is child's play with that CPU.
I am waiting to see what the 680 Classified can do as I don't want to v-mod without a nice warranty and better cooling. I v-modded my 8800GT but that was only a $300 card.
