MicroAdvantage / AOpen is the worst of the current 16x DL drives - get a NEC or a Benq and use it with good media, which is now very cheap. All the drives are running around the same price, so it's not worth the hassle to deal with a poor drive just to save a few bucks.
My BB (south FL) had mostly Made in Taiwan, but a handful of packages had a sticker over the original label with a different UPC and "Made in Japan". Some of the case bottoms were white and others were black. Both turned out to be YUDEN000T02.
The same BB had Made in Japan Fuji 100 packs...
Get it down to around $30 net by PMing at CC.
CC deal: 120 OTD - 30 MFR - 20 CCR = 70
Stpls deal: 80 OTD - 30 MFR = 50
Go to CC w/ Stpls ad and it becomes:
120 - 44 PM (110%) - 30 MFR - 20 CCR = 26 plus tax on 76
Tip on identifying drive: If box is shrink-wrapped and mentions Pinnacle...
This is a Tualatin processor. Unless your mobo was a very late model, you'll probably need to spend a few bucks (<8) more for an FCPGA-to-FCPGA2 adapter socket. You might also need to reflash your BIOS to recognize the new chip.
They have the 3-pin version too:

One caution about Panaflo fans - they don't have a speed sensor, even if you use the 3-pin plug. This is not a problem unless your mobo has a fan alarm that can't be disabled.
Aren't the Hitachi drives actually the same as the former IBM Deskstar drives? I heard IBM sold their IDE drive business to Hitachi after all the problems with the Deskstar 75 series.
CC is only showing the 4x drive (DRU-510A) and NOT the 8x (DRU-530A) on their website - OOS of course.
If you've succeeded in getting Staples to PM one model against the other, you belong in the AT Hall of Fame!
Dual-format owners: pick up one of each (+R and -R) and apply the $10/50 printable that came in snail mail recently. If all rebates go thru, you got 50 good-quality blanks for free! Even if the second rebates get denied, it's still a good deal at $30 for 50 blanks.
OM in South Florida has the T6310 for $25 and the same Moto rebate applies. When two friends and I each grabbed our quota earlier this week, there were still dozens on the shelf in Palm Beach Gardens.
BTW, found the NiCd/charger/cradle kits for these on closeout for $15 down the street at OD.
This is all totally YMMV. I've done it 4 times - twice last month when they had the same deal, and twice more this week. Three times they asked to see proof and accepted a printout of the Sams Club web page. The fourth time the CSR took me at my word and called to verify in-stock. HOWEVER, a...
Looks from the support site (www.v-pgi.com) like you could get either a Ricoh or a NEC drive. Anyone know how to tell which from the outside of the box?
I've been told that the 2-card solution will not perform as well because of the additional load on the PCI bus. Not to mention that it also ties up an extra slot.
It's all in the firmware, which is flashable, so don't worry about getting an older one. The latest firmware is always on D-Link's website. I have one of these and am very satisfied. 50 bucks is about 1/2 list, so it's a good deal.
I have the Optio 330, which is this camera's predecessor, and have been very pleased. It's amazing what these little Pentax cameras can do for their size. I certainly wouldn't put it up against a $1000 unit with all the bells and whistles, but as a grab-and-go camera that fits in a pants...
These are getting tough to put together, but try this one on the OM website:
Deal with the news of a $25 off $100 link, then add to your cart:
I/O Magic 48x16x48 sku #20186898 $39.99 (after IR) - $20 MIR = $19.99
K-Byte 128MB PC133 sku #20079004 $29.99 (after IR) - $12 MIR - $10 MIR = $7.99...
I wouldn't go to any great lengths to get this drive - I got one at the last similar opportunity and its performance was very disappointing. You're better off watching for a deal on one of the rebadged Lite-ons.
Sweet!
Was looking for a USB2.0 card to go with my new scanner, so the timing is perfect.
Recommended tatt item: OIC Thumb-Tacks, 7/16" Head, sku # 526061, $0.25
Total: 50.23 - 10.00 coupon - 40.00 MIR = 0.23 net!
