yep, drive overhead is usually the biggest bottleneck in a system... Drive overhead involves 3 main numbers that can be different from drive to drive that must be added together to get the amount of drive overhead... for instance...

I believe we're trying to fix a general computer issue... not trying to cause component failure, upping the voltage for overclocking will cause system instability rather than stability...

Did you try unplugging the hard drive before doing the memtest, and, did you test the memory in another system? If both the hard drive and the memory are fine, then replace the mainboard as Slammy1 said... BFonnes Just a reminder... before you determine the hard drive is bad, though...

The whole 10GB+ database will not remain fully in memory at any one time, though, so, this kind of RAM requirement should be unnecessary... Once the problem is solved it might be an interesting test to just take out half of your RAM and see if that has a significant "slowdown" effect on your...

It is not AVIVO (unless A stands for audio). It's VIVO, which stands for video in/video out. Your basic video cards only have video out. Most people use such features for video editing or watching TV on their PC. It'd help if you wouldn't throw around buzz words and marketing terms...

I think my hard drive(s) are turning back on and off (during Prime95 test)

Clicking and lock ups are usually what happens right before a drive fails or is failing... unless these drives are in a RAID array, you could just unplug the power cable from one of them, then see if the clicking and lock ups have stopped... Or try each of the drives, separately, in another...
