I'm trying to install a fresh copy of XP on a self built box. When I run the setup it formats the drive, copies the files from the CD, but upon reboot it goes to a black screen instead of into the installation screen. The monitor is receiving a signal (the little light is green instead of...
I'll have him try the repair utilities tonight. Hopefully that works. I haven't ruled out a faulty IDE cable, but will have him give that a shot as well. thanks for you help.
I had my friend try the install with all of the cards taken out of the system, but it had the same result. I think it might be a problem with the boot sector of the hard drive because everything runs smoothly until it gets to a point where it needs to access HDD info. In this case after copy...
I could send him a stick of ram to use, I don't think he has another video card to use, but I could prolly send one out to him. I'm 99% sure that the onboard sound is off, but I might just tell him to take out the card and enable the onboard as if I remember correctly the superquad is a pain in...
Hey guys..I have a friend that is attempting to install windows XP on his computer with a freshly formatted hard drive but there are some issues. After it formats the drive and loads the install files it resets but goes to a completely black screen. It doesn't kick into the install screen like...

I just came back from walmart in Norwalk, CT and they had a bunch of Soundblaster Live 5.1 X-Gamers and Mp3+ for $50 on clearance. These were retail packages and they seemed to have a decent amount of them. Don't know if this is a local thing or not. Either way this is little more than what...
Just installed my new Iwill KK266-R Mobo and when I boot up it says "Floppy Error(40)" It seems as if the floppy's not connected, but I know it is and the power light is on as well. This floppy drive was working in another computer 15 minutes before...any help'd be appreciated.

I got in on this deal. You can make it even better with the $25 off $100 coupon. $90 for a 12x DVD drive and a retail SB Live 5.1 is a pretty good deal imo
even tho your 12x may seem slow compared to the 24x keep in mind that it's only slightly over 3 minutes slower. If you can't spare an extra 3 minutes then you are one busy mofo....
I have a Iwill BD100 with a P2 266 presently, but got a Celeron 700 (7x100) from a friend. The Iwill website lists this as a legacy (no more support) product and is pretty sh1tty. Does anyone know if this is possible? Any help'd be appreciated.

yeah they are snobby. I went to the one in Center City Philadelphia with a friend of mine. We were wearing casual clothes, nothing too bad, and the goddamned salespeople (who weren't busy) did come to ask us if we needed help once. I would never shop there as a result of that experience...
well as long as slim mike doesn't have to open the thread.... dude what a lamer. If opening the thread for this legitimate deal is too much work, then why would you bother to reply to a thread that you already opened? You just tripled your work! Sheez...if you're reading this, that's even more...
I don't really see this as a super hot deal. You're looking at $500 shipped for the cheapest version of this computer. This is w/out a monitor and speakers. The 90 day Dell warranty/CS is pretty nice, that isn't even 3 months. Unless you're not comfortable with building a system, I don't...
just make sure if you get the HP9110i that you update the firmware to version 1.0c This will resolve problems with the drive not recognizing recordable media after being on for a few hours. Also it allows it to read/write 80min+ CDR's. The revision is available on HP's Website.
when I start up quake3 the game gets very dark. I was wondering what the ingame tweak is to raise the brightness. I tried using the ingame slider but that does dick. oh btw I have a prophet ddr-dvi, p3 900, and msi6309.
thanks,
sam
I live on an offcampus college house with 5 other people and we are going to share a single DSL line with 1 i.p. I plan on using a hardware router to share the connection/i.p. across the 6 computers. My question is what is the necessary configuration for the computers? Do I need to set them...
Onvia has the card now for $134.95. Use Pointclick to get $13.50 knocked off that bad boy bringing the price to 121.50. Also if you order two of them (for yourself or with a friend) you can use the $25 off $200 coupon bringing the card total down to $108. DAMNNNN! Can't wait to get mine...
