8k3a+ and bartons

i have a 8k3a+ with an xp 1900+ in it. did some research and it seems like i can put in a 2500+ barton despite it not being officially supported. anyone know if i can put in a higher barton like a 2600+ or even a 3000+? thanks!

3.3v agp with ti4400 on 8k3a+

i noticed that my ti4400 was only running at agp 2x. however, i can only select 1x, 2x in the bios even though my motherboard and ti4400 both support agp 4x. Vagp in the bios reads around 3.3v. i'm pretty sure it should read somewhere around 1.5v. anyone have any solutions?

ComCast Cable Internet for $19.95 for 6 months

existing customers are getting screwed. they're going to up the price by $15. i'm currently paying $46 and it's going to be $51 after the hike. i've been getting a lot of calls to subscribe to basic cable so that the price hike isn't as bad.

huh. i too live in berkeley and use attbi. my cable used to go down a LOT but i think it might be the cable modem because everytime i sorta wiggle the power cord to the cable modem it flakes out. i wonder if it's southside/northside thing because everyone i know with attbi on southside has never...

just bought a drive for my roommate. it was $140 with a $20 IR. they said the MIR would be online for $40. but it looks like the potential rebate is $50. neat, i might save another $10. anything like this happen before where the rebate isn't up in time for the deal?

i know this is off topic but it's bugging me. i remember seeing a post around here a month ago for a cooler or something and the site had a bunch of recordings of fans and their relative loudness. i've been searching all day but i can't seem to find it. anyone know what i'm talking about? thanks.

'Hard disk fail' message on startup after Win2k install

Thanks for replying. Turns out the hard drive just went bad. I ran PowerMax on the drive since the system wouldn't even recognize the drive after the initial detection in the BIOS and I got all sorts of error messages indicating that it had to be sent back in. Just my luck...

So I brought down my Maxtor 20gb to put in my little brother's computer and I cleared the master boot record using FDISK /MBR to rid it of the GRUB boot loader that was previously on the hard drive. Anyway, after having installed Windows 2000 on the drive, it would start up, get to the Windows...

Abit Siluro GeForce4 Ti4400- $225

actually, the 64 mb version has faster RAM so it's faster at lower resolutions. however, going up to insane resolutions like 1600x1200, the 128mb performs better. but there's an easy solution. overclock.

AVerTV Studio?

I've been looking into TV tuner cards that can do PVR like functions and I happened upon this card. AverMedia Studio It goes for about $70. I was also looking into the Hauppage TV-PVR but that's way too expensive (~$200+). So I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this card or...

It says that my customer number is invalid. I just got the cable modem installed today, what's up? I'm in the Bay Area. Could it be that when you click on install, it says Boston and LA?
