Ideal RWIN setting?

I've tried different settings repeatedly and for me the best has been a VERY large rwin right now using 186880.. this or whatever is maximum.. I used to use larger but would get alot of retransmits. there is no best number.. it depends on your isp or the internet at the time. I found 65535...

anyone have links to any benchmarks between card types? mainly looking for game framerates with 3d sound enabled/disabled or using an ISA card vs PCI card(isa taking up more cpu cycles or something like that). Just how good is 3D sound? or the EAX effects? I'm really curious as to what I'm...

@home, 3 IP's - looking for best way to setup with linksys router or hub

install netbuei for file/printer sharing and ipx if you still use games that use ipx. I use 2 ip's and the computers don't have problems finding lan games usually. If they do I just type in the ip address and connect like that.. basically a little extra typing.. I'm not sure but the reason you...

best way to test cpu stability?

prime95 is good for testing the processor.. another good one is called cpuburn or something like that.. when you unzip there is a few executables.. one called burnbx.exe which is good for any cpu/chipset despite it's name. I really taxes the memory/cpu and this program has heated up my cpu...

Question about overclocking

if you can.. try sticking to 100mhz/133mhz etc speeds with the appropriate divider. Depending on your hardware the bus overclocks are not peripheral friendly. Some hard drives will get corrupted data, lose it's master boot record, windows registry can get corrupted, more chances for system...

866 to 1000 mhz no difference?

overall system performance is really being limited by a number of things now.. small increases in mhz with the same type of processor will yield little gain. (866 p3 to 1ghz p3) now a 850 celeron to 1ghz p3 will be quite noticeable.. otherwise IMO processors are jumping ahead a little too...

name one game that doesn't run great on a p3 800mhz with geforce3 :) 3DMark 2001 doesn't count ;) although you would still get a great 3dmark2k1 score simply because of the geforce 3. I have been putting off upgrades mainly because I'm always reading about via 4in1 problems, or soundblaster...

cripes.. you speak as if his system is a 300mhz :P a p3 800 will be fine for a good while yet unless game developers all of a sudden crank out some *really* bloated games with no optimization or something. That geforce card I assume is a geforce 1? Upgrade to a geforce 3 and you will be good...
