I need to get wireless Web access, but have not a clue where to start. What's the absolute minimum I need (both hardware and in terms of a provider)? PDA or pocket PC. I just need to do some minor Web browsing and grab my e-mail...
Superself:
Not a chance in hell they're anywhere near $2.00 in cost. They cost CENTS. How do I know this? Simple: Netflix ships 100,000 of them A DAY. That means they buy them by the million. I buy custom two-part 6x9 adhesive-stripped flat mailers that are similar to what Netflix uses...
slueth715:
Nice try. Here's a quote from Reed Hastings (since you're "acquaintances with a member of the corporation" you already know that Reed is the NetFlix CEO, so I don't have to tell you that) which appeared in PC World:
PCW: How soon will I be able to download a movie through broadband...
Floydian:
Sorry to hear your friends are getting screwed over so badly. As a video store owner, I can tell you that those prices are correct for VHS, however DVD's wholesale for $20 and under even to a low volume buyer. For instance, here are some wholesale DVD prices for new, popular, and...
So, sorry RandyL712, you're WAY wrong on several points.
NetFlix pays less than 34 cents each way, per disk. That's a round-trip cost of 68 cents plus the mailer, which at last check cost them less than 10 cents each. Their round-trip postage and handling is under $1.00 each, with labor...
Yeah, I blew it. I read the TOP line of the rebate form and it says: "Valid 11/3/02-11/23/02" and I should have read the next header down for the chair rebate. Still FREE thanks to the AT&T gift card, but not hot as it should be.
w00t!
Just ordered mine online. Tax was applied -- the total was $74.88 delivered. I used my $75.00 MasterCard Gift Card I got from AT&T to order, so that means I'm getting the chair for free, PLUS $50.00 back in rebate cash. Even without using the AT&T gift card, it's only $24.88 after MIR...
I feel compelled to mention www.everydns.net which I've been using. They're FREE, but I recommend making the one-time donation of $15 to keep them free for a long time. I donated and I'm glad...
"Bait" is also the name of the nudie magazine run by Jerry Caesar (Dabney Coleman) in the 1987 "Dragnet" movie starring Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd. Their centerfold is called the monthly "Bait Mate".
My wife and two kids were in an auto accident on Friday. She was t-boned by a woman in a mini-van going 50 MPH. The side-impact airbag in her 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS saved her life.
I didn't LIE, I do shop quite a bit at OD. I just don't know if you'd classify me as a "good customer". I don't spend thousands there every year, but I do spend quite a bit.
If OD raises their prices, they have plenty of competitors ready to swoop in and beat them out. They price match for a reason -- to get your business. They offer coupons for a reason -- to get your business. The prices are driven by the market.
Besides, the number of people who actually make...
I can understand your sentiment, but it doesn't bother me. When I handed the manager the $20 off coupon, I said: "I'm gonna wring every dime I can out of this deal." He chuckled and said: "I'd do the same if I were you."
I haven't built a system in a few years, but I bought the Maxtor 40GM 7200 RPM Ultra-ATA drive on the hot deal at OD. Now looking for the right motherboard. I see some boards say "Ultra-ATA" and some say "UDMA" -- I've looked on the Web, but I'm confused. Are they the same?
Will my new drive...
Thanks. Having been in their shoes (managed several retail outlets including a national computer chain store) I feel this is the best approach. The manager has a lot of leeway in how he handles your sale. He didn't have to PM the TechSavings.com price, but he did. I'll be extra nice to save...
Ok, here's how I worked this deal:
OD has the Linksys BEFSR41 4-port Cable/DSL router for a shelf price of $69.99 and 7-foot LAN cable for $9.99. Total price before tax: $79.98. If you buy the combination of the two items, there is a shelf coupon which gives you the cable for FREE (it's a $10...
Ok, I've got about $50 or so to spend on a video card. I'm not a gamer, I'll be using the machine for Corel Draw and Photoshop applications and won't need any resolutions greater than 1280 across. I need a PCI card and will be using it in an AMD XP1600+ system with 512MB of RAM.
What do you...
The coupon IS NOT bogus.
Think about this for a minute: OD uses a centralized system. If OD determined that a bogus coupon was being circulated, it would take them all of 10 seconds to put an entry into their system that would render coupon code 6160 invalid at every register in every store...
SrikanthAG:
Yeah, forget trying to get them online. You've got to go to the B&M. If I could guarantee that I'd get paid $34 to take two sticks, I'd drive the 60 miles!
They'll last. If they weren't legit, the OD cash register system wouldn't recognize the coupon code and automatically take of exactly the right amount without the cashier having to type anything in except the 6160 code.
The fact that the manager at that particular store is clueless doesn't mean...
