I have the original unrated version of Blade Runner on VHS. I just wish they would come out with a new version which incorporate both the unrated version and the Director's Cut on DVD.

I completely agree. Going out to dinners & movies or bars & clubs you can spend just as much. People just choose different form of entertainments. I like to keep them varied.
What you described sound a lot more like "Duel", Speilberg's early film. Of course I've never seen Driver so I can't be for certain. In Duel, whether a truck driver actually exist remains in question even after the end.
