If it has to be Intel I'd look for a laptop with the six core i7-10710U. It has nearly the performance of the H parts in a lower power package especially for short duration workloads. Maybe the MSI Modern 14 or 15 would work for you? They are light and portable and can come with the GTX 1650...
If it's a higher refresh rate monitor, 120 Hz or higher, than the 3600x could be worth the extra $100. The 1600 AF will work well though and is the best value.
It's reliable but the R5 3600 numbers seem to be around 15%-18% too high. If those are accurate that would be amazing. They could be for overclocked CPUs. Based on the promoted IPC improvements and clockspeed increase from the 2600 I would expect the 3600 to score around 2550 single thread...
It isn't per these benchmarks:
https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2070-Mobile-Max-Q-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080/m703511vs3603
The 2080 Max Q closes the gap a bit but it's still 15% behind. The desktop parts just have more power to work with and the laptop versions can't keep up. The 2060...
This is an interesting idea. Here is the PassMark comparison to your current chip: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-Xeon-E5-2697-v2-vs-Intel-i7-3930K/2009vs902
You'll get about 1.4 times better multithreaded performance with the Xeon but your single threaded (important for some...
I'm not sure what your sorry for. According to Passmark for stock speeds (though I do have my CPU overclocked) the 1600x has a few percent lower single threaded performance and the 2600x has a few percent higher single threaded performance compared to the 3570k...
Yep. Even if it's only an eight core part hitting 5.0 GHz with increased IPC it will be really tempting. If it actually hits the leaked numbers it the 3700X will be four times faster than my overclocked 3570k at multithreading and actually have increased single thread performance!
You really don't need to spend $100 on a power supply. Newegg has the Corsair RM550x and RM750x for $70 which are top PSUs that don't even run the fan until they are heavily loaded. The RM550x will be more than enough power but you could get the 750W version for the same price if you don't...
**DEAD NOW**
Just saw this on SD and ordered one for myself:

Quantities are limited while supplies last. The sale is first-come, first-serve. We've included an exclusive coupon code to get your...
I tried 1280x800 on my Korean 2560x1600 monitor that only has a DVI connection and no scaling built into the monitor.
The AMD scaling that is done is much worse than I expected. Everything is fuzzy. It definitely doesn't just map one pixel to four for the higher resolution. Is there a way...
BTW I reran the HD Tune test booting off of another drive and it got rid of the dips in the transfer rate graph but the access time for the drive is still over 27ms.
That's nearly twice the specced time. Is there any hope for this drive or should I just spend the hour driving down to Fry's...
I just picked up a HD154UI and installed Windows 7 on it. The average access times are in the high twenty millisecond range:
HD Tune Test
Are there any settings I can look at changing or driver updates that could correct this? Or should I return it for another drive (which unfortunately...
Thanks again. I decided a 4670 will do all I really need and I just don't want to deal with the extra heat output / noise of the faster cards.
I ordered the HSI 4670 from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814161249
Based on a post on Silent PC Review from a user...
Thanks for all the input.
I'm looking at this 4850: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814131118
Which is about as quiet as the come according to this write up: http://www.techpowerup.com/rev...or/HD_4850_PCS/25.html
But I really don't game much anymore so I may just go for...
Well, like I said I don't play all the latest games. Mainly I play WWIIOnline which is more CPU limited. I don't need a 4850 or 4870 and I don't want to deal with the heat they put out in my little HTPC case. There isn't room for a taller aftermarket coolers like the S1 or S2.
I'm going to...
I'm looking for a card to replace my 7900GT that I have in a Antec NSK2400 case.
The computer is used for streaming TV shows and watching OTA HD broadcasts on my projector and playing games at 1920x1200 on a 24" monitor. I don't play all the most current games out there but the 7900GT isn't...
As I read the rules, I thought this would be fine as the rules say coupons that states copies and reproductions aren't allowed, this coupon didn't say that. But I reread again and maybe this just applys to scanned coupons since this isn't a scanned one but just an online coupon all remove the...
Just did this myself (using the monitor now!)
Best Buy has the Samsung 712N for $399.99 there are two rebates. One for $80 and another for $70 that print out when you buy it, bringing the total to $249.99.
Gonna have to search for the coupon. I recieved 10% off of the prerebate price...
I purchased the A64 3000+ bundled with the Asus A8V from MWave for $273 from Mwave. Looks like the processor price has gone up a bit since a couple weeks ago, now it's $281. That bundle with the gig of Kingston ram for $160.50 should be a great combo if you aren't planning on overclocking for...
2x512 Kingston HyperX PC3200
Haven't tried overclocking it yet.
And only the B memory banks worked on my motherboard until I updated to the current bios. It was 1006, updated to 1008.
I just ordered a Asus A8v w/ A64 3000+ and I'm trying to figure out how to setup my drives.
I have two identical WD 7200rpm 60gig drives and I'm planning on putting them in a RAID-0 array. I'm wondering if it would be better to install the OS (WinXPPro) on my single 80gig Maxtor 7200rpm...
I just ordered the 939 3000+ as a Mwave CPU - Motherboard Bundle
The processor was and still is $146 pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Also ZipZoomFly carries them. I didn't look at any other vendors because I trusted dealing with ZZF, Newegg or Mwave.
I ordered this last night over the phone at the $159.99 price. I'll post an update once I see what I actually get and test it out. Now where to order a Asus A8V & A64 +3000 from...
Cherub what ended up happening with the stick you got? Did you just keep it or send it back to Outpost.
I'm thinking about taking the gamble on this and if the stuff is no good can I just RMA it directly to Kingston since it has the lifetime warranty. I figure it be better dealing with them...
The Specs linked by Smoking Gunn are 2-2-2-6-1 @ 2.6V but Kingston lists this RAM a discontinued model, the new model KHX3200AK2/1G ('A' in the model number) has the stats of 2-3-2-6-1 like Outpost lists. So it may be this newer model.
It seems like it would still be a decent deal without...
I've been looking at getting this deal. It is for the A8V Deluxe Pro with the WiFi. Looking at the Newegg WiFi version and the Asus website, it looks like the WiFi card goes in a PCI slot, so I don't think there is some other special slot for it, could be wrong though.
Also, looking at...
The thing with the PDP Patriot is then I'd be ordering from Newegg, which normally wouldn't be a problem but I'm up in Alaska so shipping will add about $25 to it's cost, so then it's up at the CorsairXMS price at ZipZoomFly which ships Fedex 2day free to AK.
From what I've been reading, it...
I'm looking to purchase the following:
Asus A8V Deluxe
Athlon 64 +3000
and 1gb PC3200 (512x2) but I'm not sure what to get.
I use my computer for gaming and video editing. My current video card is a 9500Pro and I won't be upgrading that bottleneck anytime real soon so this memory issue...
So are you saying the 9500 can be overclocked to outperform the 9500 pro even if the other 4 pipelines are unuseable(checkerboarded)?
I haven't heard of soft modding to make it a 9800, I've just heard of it going up to the 9700pro speeds. It would seem that if the 4 unlocked pipelines aren't...
Cards at Newegg
How close is the 9500 to the 9500pro at stock speeds and does anyone know the chances of the soft mod working for this Sapphire card?
I'm thinking if the soft mod doesn't work the 9500 will be a bit of a disappointing card (I'd like to get close to two years of use out of it)...
If someone had that card for a good price I'd be buying it also. I really like the adjustable fan speed (trying to get as silent as possible on my pc). However I looking to go with the FIC card from Newegg w/ the Zalman heatpipe for absolutely no noise and I hate replacing those damn little...
