Hey guys I havent been here in close to 2 years as I rarely have time for computer stuff, even though I still love it.
I think however, that my KT3 Ultra 2 is dying....originally I thought it was the PSU was since the voltages were going but now I feel it is the mobo.
Heres the deal: My...
sorry, Expansion - i mean that you probably wont be able to upgrade or add components because it will be too much for the PSU to handle, also i recognize that the PSU only has 170W combined on the 3.3 and 5v rails, which is kinda of weak. I kno the 350W that comes in the SLK3700 (i have one) is...
hmm that combo is ok although it leaves no room for expansion and id just want to get a larger PSU just for comfort... many problems can be caused by cheap/weak PSUs.
Get a Panaflo H1A or something similar to put on top of the AX7.. from SVC id get a http://www.svc.com/convarspeedc.html tho. I...
Go with an Antec Case, i recommend the SLK3700 w/ 350W PSU, i tihnk its like $84 shipped on newegg, and still cheaper than ur case + psu combined
Go with some HyperX 3200 or 3500 ram since u will be OCing
Get a SK7 from SVC for $20, much better HS and cheaper.
Otherwise the choices look very...
well since ive been aware of computers, its been about every 2 years... 450mhz PII --> 900mhz Tbird --> 2100+ .. i wish i could do it more often but im 16 and saving for a car, so until that i cant get anything :( Hopefully next yr i'll pick up a cheap Barton tho.
The reasons are all stated above, but u dont have what i would call a generic PSU... its more of a middle of the line PSU made by a respectable manufacturer
I have the same PSU and i agree its great :D
Hey guys im looking for a general purpose printer (for papers and reports with minor pictures) for my dad's house
I currently have a HP 930C at my mom's and have had problems with a previous Canon and Epson printer so im willing to stay HP even tho i kno they are more expensive
I need this to...
thanks again guys, i tried spraying a compressed air can upside down for ten seconds and then a twist with a screwdriver and it popped right off, epoxy and all still attached to the heatsink :) Actually most of the writing on the core was still on the sink but the core itself was undamaged
Now...
i couldnt stand the noise from my WD 40GB drive so i took it out and got a 80gb Seagate IV, its sooo quiet - best decision i ever made :D
Oh and did i mention that i had 2 other WD 40GB drives die before? 1 in only a week too :/
Hey guys
About 5 months ago, the fan on my GF2 died. I then bought a Vantec Iceberq to replace the whole unit + get better cooling
The problem is the HS is epoxied on VERY tight and any way i could try to get it off failed (freezer etc..) so i then got the idea to take the fan off my old TNT2...
if u want to OC that 2100+, u could just bump it to 166 fsb and then its 2157mhz and all u need is PC2700 ram to keep the prices low...
i would just hope that allied psu will be ok.
my temps really didnt go down (maybe .5ºC) but with the way my IDE ports are with the posistion of my HDDs, it really helped the neatness of my case and im convinced it helped airflow a wee bit since a ribbon cable was blocking some of the hdd cage
i should get my replacement next week... it takes a while for it to get back to newegg with ground shipping from NY :)
when i get it ill post here on how it went
well in an old system built for my dad (needs quiet) i used Vantec Stealth 60mm, they are only 20dba but also dont move much air but still they are ok for what I needed them for
Hey guys im just wondering i got a little left over cash from Christmas and im wondering whether i should get a new PSU?
Currently i have a Turbolink 420W (Comes in Chieftec Cases) that hasnt given me one problem and voltages are good but for the sake of the rest of my parts, should i invest in...
well mine still works, just the 4th knob wont adjust voltage and it still smells a bit of burning electronics
i have a Turbolink 420W psu and i had connected 2 panaflo L1As on the extension cables for exhaust and then 2 vantec stealths for intake so it was not a big load at all, and nothing...
yep, mine burned up within 10 secs as well (with 4 fans, tested it first with 1 and it worked fine)
luckily i didnt risk attachin my CPU fan so it was only my 4 case fans
gonna RMA it to newegg on thursday :/
well yeah it was pretty freaky, at least it wasnt my CPU which was my first thought but i hadn't fiddled with it and my bios beeped ok so then i took out the controller on my drive rails and eww what a bad smell :/
i got mine today and i tested just one connector (fan2 i think) in an old system and it worked so i plugged it into mine with fans on all 4 lines and i get a burning smell... turn it off and check all lines in the old system and the 4th fan line is b0rked ..... and the noise was pretty...
if i were u id try to stick with 80mm fan based heatsinks - its hard to get a 60mm quiet fan to cool a hot XP proc
like mentioned earlier, SLK800, SK7, or AX7 with a Panaflo or Vantec Stealth fan will be fine + quiet
Go for the Chieftec!
I love mine... it has so many good features and great airflow i wouldnt trade it for anything - but i also have the aluminum version btw
i remember my old alienware had really good cable management aswell but thats long gone now without any pictures... :(
Of course i like my new rig better :P
tbh i wouldnt worry about the weight 2 much, i mean when was the last time u jarred ur comp very hard?
Unless u move it around a lot or go to LAN's then go for the SK7 its great
and i highly recommend that u dont get a 60mm fan based heatsink
You wont get nearly the same cooling for the same...
no, u are correct it is Chenming, i was just saying that they are all the same (chieftec/antec/thermaltake) and that there are chieftecs without a P/S, unlike antec
see sig ;)
the KT3 Ultra 2 does have an auto shutdown feature, tho the lowest it can go is 70ºC i believe, ill have a look later to see where its exactly located... or try to find it in the manual :)
yeah thats a fine temp with stock cooler and OCed
could be a power issue as said be4 or even ram - i had ram go bad that was causing spntaneous reboots
yeah thnx guys... ive decided i want to go for either the black or silver DX-01 case at newegg without the PSU (with window and side fan)
then im going to get an Antec 350W psu separatly and it *just* fits within my budget
now if only those cases would just come back in stock!! :)
well i dont kno much about Abit boards but a via KT133 will not support a XP chip, because of its 100mhz fsb, as u can see on mine atm i can only OC it to 120 so i get a 1800+ out of a 2100+ (new mobo soon)
BUT if you have a KT133a then u can because that board supports 133 fsb :)
