Weak bass with Audigy 2 ZS

Also, make sure the CMSS is turned off. It tends to muddify sound quite well. Right click on the blue/white speaker icon on the taskbar near the system clock-> click EAX console->then CMSS tab->uncheck the CMSS checkbox. Hopefully this helps!

Ever since I purchased this computer, I would experience random lockups, and suffer from a motherboard that refused to aggressively clock my expensive Corsair memory. I would always set the memory to manual timings so I could get the best performance out of my system based on extensive testing...

The new 1.2 BIOS is great! I'm now able to run my 3.0C @ 3500 and 233 FSB with my Corsair 3500C2... Temps are fixed now as well. Since I don't have a floppy drive in my computer, I was dreading going thru the process of making a bootable CD, so I tried LiveUpdate, and the 1.2 BIOS was there...

advantz, If you want 1.21, I can email it to you. Keep in mind: this breaks BIOS overclocking functionality, and it only fixes the probem of running some memory @ 400MHz (specifically Corsair memory). Temperature readings and overclocking are not fixed in this release...

I got a response from MSI Computer yesterday, located in teh Bay Area. They sent me the same BIOS (1.21) I got 2 weeks ago from Taiwan; however, they did state that the release version (1.2) will be posted on the 23rd... So I suppose we have to wait until then!

Thanks, that's what I thought... I've also just realized that after I've run MBM, my CPU temp is changed and locked at 64C until I reboot (via CoreCenter and Aida32).

Following the idea about an on-fan thermistor, I sprayed some chip-cooler on the HSF while the computer was running, and the speed of the fan did not change at all. So either there is not thermistor, it is broken, or the Fan is supposed to be controlled by the motherboard... The latter seems to...

Well, I had a Gigabyte 8KNXP before this MSI, and the CPU fan speed was always around 1500-2000 RPM, with the same CPU and HSF. As far as fan regulation, I thought it was the motherboard that enabled the capability (as long as you have the 3 pin/3 wire fans) in terms of voltage levels, unless...

You know what? That is a typo; I re-checked MBM, and the CPU fan runs @ 5000 RPM, and the NB fan runs @ ~6000 RPM (I've changed the topic, sorry about thiat!)... BOTH are supposed to be adjustable by the BIOS....

Try www.8xtreme.com MSI has removed the NEO2 from their mainsite, but this spin-off site still has info on it... The only thing is that is a flash site, so traversal is a bit slow.

Well, considering that I couldn't overclock at all with version 1.0, overclocking my 3.0C to 3.24GHz seems like it is okay. However, I don't leave it at that setting, because I'm scard of the temp readings; I want to wait until I hear SOMETHING official about them!

Budman, try this BIOS I was able to get from MSI Taiwan thu tech support, version 1.2 beta 1. This has fixed my memory problems, but not the temperature readings.

My main gripe is that the CoreCenter software has to be loaded in order to take advantage of the fan speed adjustments (among other things of the CoreCell technology); if CoreCenter is not run, it seems that CoreCell doesn't work as advertized (at all). I was hoping for a hardware solution...

I owned a 8KNXP for about a day, then I sold it because I got the MSI 865 board instead. I had that beeping too, and if I recall correctly, what cured it was to disable any and all temperature monitoring (system, CPU, NB) in the bios... Try that and see if that doesn't help!

Has anyone noticed this? It as if the CoreCell chip isn't working. If I boot up my machine, the fans are blazing as if they want to transport my desktop - and they will stay that way until I start CoreCenter. Then the fans turn WAY down in RPM to a much more tolerable level.

I've got that board too (NEO2-865PE-FIS2R), and have high temp readings as well. Do you by any chance have the NB fan and CPU fan running wildly fast? I thought the "CoreCell" chip was supposed to monitor these settings; I suppose that since the temperature reading is wrong, the BIOS is setting...

The Intel PRO /1000CT. This board is IDENTICAL to the 875P-FIS2R listed on MSI's website, but it uses the 865PE chipset rather than the 875P... Purchased it from PCProgress.

PCUSA.com refuses to replace MSI nForce2 motherboard. VGA BIOS says "Engineering Release - Not For Production Use" HELP!

This is probably what you don't want to hear, but I think the best solution for you is to call your credit card company, if you had used a credit card, and dispute the charges. Just tell them what you wrote down here, and you'll most likely quickly get your credit back (with certain conditions...

thorin, Regarding the jumpers, that is what I thought as well. I think I'm just paranoid. I may just have to call them and ask; the drives did not come with a manual, nor can I find it on WD's website... argh.

Does anyone know what those jumpers are for? There is a diagram on the sticker of the drive that has a jumper over pins 3 and 4 and a phrase that says: "PM2 Enabled". The drive came with the jumperover pins 1 and 2. I can't find any information on what these pins are for, and what that phrase...

The MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R (great board!!) supports RAID for both ATA and SATA (uses integrated controller on southbridge, and onboard promise chip).. Most (if not all) 875 boards probably support SATA raid via intel's southbridge, but I'm not sure...

Humming most likely has something to do with the frequency that the backlights' ballast operates at during different brightness levels. If the monitor is humming, it means that something is vibrating at a critical frequency, and this is most-likely the ballast. Depending on the brightness level...
