To clarify, it was faster in 3dMark benchmarks by about 60%, but about 40% slower in World of Warcraft and the same speed in Aion. Speed in an artificial benchmark isn't important to me, only what I get in the real games I play. I've heard WoW "likes" nVidia cards more than ATI ones though, so...

2560x1600 video card options

Okay, so I picked up a 30" Dell LCD a couple of years ago and an 8800GTX OC from eVGA at the same time. I've been incredibly happy with it, and even that "old" card was able to drive most games at reasonable settings even at that high resolution. Sadly, my video card just died. I was an idiot...

Does Creative have an X-Fi successor coming out soon?

I'll get an X-Fi to replace my Audigy 2 when they release a PCI-E version and include DD encoding support so I can send everything, games, movies, etc. through the same digital connection to my DD decoding receiver.

According to some folks over at nVNews that seem to know what they're talking about, Coolbits reads the .22 BIOS improperly. You are actually at 1300 RAM, it's just reading 1200. Try running 3DMark or RivaTuner and see what speeds they report. Should be something like 501/1305 at stock...

Yes, but a registry tweak is necessary to open up that panel. Do a Google search for "Coolbits" or "NVTweak". Those will install the necessary registry entries to see and modify the speed sliders.

Anyone else get Far Cry bundled with their BFG 7800GTX?

Considering the BFG's MSRP is $599 just like the cards without "all the extra gumpf", it doesn't look like I'm really paying any more at all. There isn't a single white-box 7800GTX available yet, but there are several retail brands with no bundle at all, so a good price ($540) AND a good bundle...

They wouldn't own it for long, as I'm sure nVidia would have a counter. The important thing would be to surprise nVidia by releasing sooner than expected, so they get a one or two month lead in the midrange the way nVidia's enjoying now at the high end.

Memory for BF2

You'll be able to use better timings with 2 sticks. 4 sticks tends to degrade signal quality enough that you'll either have to overvolt or drop timings. So especially if you have a use either now or in the near future for the 2x512M you'll be taking out, go with 2x1GB for sure.

This could be a smart move by ATi. nVidia killed the paper launch to force delays, but if ATi can come out on July 26th as previously expected with ONLY midrange cards at cheaper prices, even though they won't be anywhere near the speed of the 7800GTX, they might catch nVidia with their pants...

Anyone else get Far Cry bundled with their BFG 7800GTX?

Mine was *in* the BFG 7800GTX box, not bundled into the same outer shipping carton by Best Buy or anything. Just 5 CD's in envelopes. Since they do bundle it with the 512M 6800 Ultra, I'm thinking they may have just accidentally put it in this box. New guy on the assembly line. ;)

BFG, as the title of the thread states. And I'm on an Intel system, so I expect a little bit of a score penalty compared to the AMD folks (just not the >25% I was getting at first! ;)) Mobo is an Asus P5AD2 Premium. Make sure you do some benches before even installing Coolbits or anything...
