what are the chances of finding such dimms that are also low latency and the speed i'm looking for? i've thought of low profile but i don't think that would give me enough room in the case. guess i'm gonna just have to start cutting into an optical drive to make room. unless anyone knows of a...
Ok, so I'm basically trying to finish up a g4 (quicksilver, non-mirror) intel mod I did awhile ago. Sitting in it is a nice 865 motherboard along with 2 sticks of corsair low latency memory. The memory is standard height and here is the issue. To get an internal optical drive I'd really need...
These monitors got great reviews and c'mon folks, you don't have to have DVI, loss of quality from conversion is no longer an issue with todays video cards and high quality components in the monitors. Now I just have to debate if I should get this and sell my old 21" HP trinitron or not.
wow, he can quote but can't read. the pc4000 standard isn't a standard yet. there is no official pc4000 standard, the memory that is being sold is fine i'm sure, but it isn't gonna work in as many motherboards as a pc3200 stick will because the pc3200 is a standard that the mobo makers can test.
get one of the new geforce line of directx 9 cards. even the cheapest ones are still directx9 compliant, more than can be said about the cheap ati's (i actually have all ati cards but for low end they aren't as good as geforce)
not sure but i think these are talking about a voltage/power regulator for the cpu. alot of server boards come with these. they basically act as a backup for the capacitors on the motherboard. course i'm talking out my ass so this could all be wrong :P
unless i'm mistaken there is no offical pc4000 memory yet so what you are getting isn't officially supported. that's not to say it isn't that fast or anything. memory isn't that expensive so i wouldn't mind getting the pc3200 with the lower latency now. if future proof memory is what you need...
went to 2 local compusa's after i got off work (9:30am). i picked up 12 packs at each location. 720cdr's should keep me in the vcd/svcd and audio cd burning business for at least 2 years :)
i don't know about you guys, but if i have anything important to backup i back it up on 3 dif hard...
stopped by 2 compusa's after i got off work this morning (9:30am). As I pulled up I noticed about 3 peopel with bags of nothing but cdrs :)
I myself got 24 packs, that's 720 cdrs!
Should hold me over for about 2 years :)
that really pisses me off that it would available to certain parts of the world but not others :(
now if it was something like japan i would be more understanding, but it seems to be available in europe and the former ussr as well as israel it would seem.
Edit:
Ok, talked to gigabiteme and...
you probably won't notice a performance dif unless you are using a really nice mouse like a mx500 or mx700. the response time on those should be better using usb.
Anyone know where to purchase a 8IPE1000MK? I've emailed GA asking for a retailer in the US but nothing yet.
already got some nice ram on the way for it

Basically I'm putting a pc into a g4 quicksilver tower case. I started out with a matx 850e mobo which I am now selling and I am looking to get a matx 875 chipset mobo. The closest thing I've been able to get is a GA-8IPE1000MK mobo but I can't find any US resellers stocking it yet. There is...
no one can honestly answer that question because of all the possible variables involved. first you have the chips themselves. their is no set standard for how well a chip will overclock. each one can have different characteristics. also, your memory will probably be the thing that holds you...
you know, as a hardware tech i know you can short out your mobo by hot swapping ps2 ports but i have never ever seen or heard of it happening :)
i like the apple pro keyboard and i use it on my pc setup. though, for my other system which is a HTPC (home theater pc) i have a wireless logitec...
I would like to have a 875 mobo but I will take 865 if one isn't available. Did you bother to look up what the GA-8IPE1000MK is? It's a 865 chipset. And I would like to get this one verses the other 865 boards out becuase it does not have graphics integrated. I haven't been able to get a...
the G board graphics suck and I don't want anything taking up valuable south or northbridge resources if it doesn't have to. and since I already stated that I knew of and did not want a 865G mobo your post was totally useless. Thanks
I think the people who designed the pathway implementation of the northbridge of that chipset would disagree that it's not technology. It's very real technology. And did you even know what I'm talking about when I refrence the ATI 9500 hack? About half the cards that hack was applied to got...
It's not true PAT technology. It's a little work around that basically is like the old radeon 9500 128MB hack to turn it into a 9700. They are tricking the motherboard into thinking it is the 875 chipset. Both chipsets use the same northbridge but only a certain % make the grade to use PAT...

tagej I seriously doubt you will benifit from csa. unless you have gigabit ethernet switches and cat 5e wiring throughout the house you can't even use the gigabit feature of it. also, unless your pci bus is filled with other cards that use high amounts of the 133Mbps bandwidth you shouldn't...
this is an emerging market and as such only a few guys are making kits. your best bet is a barebones system. some of the newer ones have AGP slots so they can be a serious gaming system! Tomshardware has done multiple reviews on such systems.
Koss makes some nice ones. Takes some getting used to as you can't hear much else once they are in :)
Great combo with my IPod and working in the noise NOC.
I think it boils down to how you would use the drives. SCSI and IDE (8mb cache) are very close in some areas of performance. However, in raw I/O, SCSI is still the king. If you plan on using the drives for storage, IDE. If you plan on using the drives for fast/multiple access of data, then...
seems people have a real beef with one manufacturer or another. i've had multiple drive failures but only one that was outside the warranty period. true, there are some real horor stories of multiple bad drives in a row, but that is just a freak. your best bet is to go with a manufacturer...
In my HTPC system I have all my slots used.
Ultra 100 IDE controller card
SB Live 5.1 card
Dazzle DVC II card
MyHD HDTV card
3Com 10/100 NIC
Sure it's crowded in there but my the only thing I'd move to the mobo would be the NIC, if I could.
