Win2000. Started running it a few months ago after a couple years with Win98. Its not perfect, but I like it. Spectre

Hex editor...

The 2 hex editors I used in the past were Hex Workshop and HexEd. You can probably do a Google search for them. They should still be around. Spectre

Replacing a DLL on Windows 2000

Need To Retrieve An Administrator's Password

There are a few programs out there that will extract passwords for accounts, archived files, etc. You can Google search for them. I know there is a company that makes a number of programs to extract passwords from a number of file formats and sources, but the program isnt free. Spectre

re install Win98

Yes, you can simply reinstall it over itself and it shouldnt affect anything else on your system. Ive done it a few times with Win98 and Win2K Pro. Just dont forget to goto the Windows Update site and get all the patches when you are done. :) Spectre

Recommend version of 4-in-1's

Im running Win2k Pro SP3 on an ABIT KT7A and I use the VIA 4-in-1 version 4.29. When I installed the August release, my system seemed to be unstable [crashing, slow, BSODs]. I cant say with 100% certainty the newer release of VIA was the culprit, but when I went back to the 4.29 release on the...

Does any one use dvorak keyboards?

I have a hard enough time typing on a QWERTY keyboard. :) My wife has one of the Microsoft "Natural" split keyboards and that is a nightmare for me. The DVORAK board would kill me... :) Spectre

Do Netgear FA311 or FA310TX got drivers for WIN2K that you guys might know of?

No Keyboard or Mouse

Since you just moved the system, I would pull out and reseat every cable and card. Also, try swapping where the USB devices are plugged in. Most likely something simple is causing this problem. :) Spectre

Never heard of this one...

If that PC has a network card, that could also be the problem. If the NIC is having problems or has settings set incorrectly, it will hang on that screen. Spectre
