Just wanted to confirm that the WD, as I claimed earlier, doesn't include NCQ as a feature. As I said NCQ is an option of SATA-II and is not required and WD obviously chose not to include it. See here.
This thread also suggests that the "SATA-II" WD drive that I refrenced above does indeed lack NCQ. Please provide any evidence to the contrary.

I'm just going by the Anandtech article refrenced above that states that, "Just because the SATA-IO committee identifies capabilities like NCQ and Hot Plug, they are not required by any standard." Also, unlike the other SATA-II drives on Newegg the WD dive makes no mention what so ever anywhere...
I bought a 915G board recently and had to replace my Matrox G450. I was under the assumption that the integrated graphics would look fine on my 19 inch CRT. Unfortunatley the 2D image is quite "unstable" and blurry. I had to reduce my resolution from 1280x960 at 85Hz to 1152x864 at 75Hz and it...
I talked about the ALC 850 because that is the "crap" codec that the Karajan module on the DFI LanParty uses. The Karajan module possibly helps improve this "crap," but as I said I have seen no objective or even subjective evidence that this is better than HD Audio, and I even provided a link to...
This is just crazy talk. At no time has AMD had such a better chip than Intel. If thier was ever a time to buy AMD it is now. They run cooler, faster, and have future with dual core and 64 bitness.

No it's not. I believe I listed good reasons for my choice. I...
My most important concern (because I have no clue) is whether there is a specific Prescott revision that is out right now and I should be looking out for (due to better heat management or performance)? Or is their possibly a new one coming soon that I should be waiting for?
Thanks
Check out Intel Matrix RAID it has better than RAID 5 capability at a much lower cost.
RAID 5 doesn't make much sense with Matrix RAID as an option (for the average home user in my opinion). The extra cost, power, and heat of 3-5 drives (RAID 5 doesn't tend to outperform RAID 0 until you...
Thanks
Yeah, that was the only accoustical matting on Newegg's site and people seemed to like it. However after I did some research last night at silentpcreview.com the opinion seemed to range from "will help lower pitch of sound but not volume" to "worthless." I think I'm going to try and...
After almost 7 years of loyal AMD usage (just the K6-2 500 and Duron 600 though) I'm strangly making the move to Intel now despite some its inferior properties compared to AMD. The reason for this is despite their high heat and slower perfromance in most uses, I am choosing them for thier better...
Does anybody have a link to a review concerning the use of different speeds or RAM on A64? Everybody seems to suggest that faster speed RAM is necessary/better but where has this been shown? Thanks.
Hi, I currently have a Duron 800 (6x133) with 512MB of 266FSB Crucial Ram (PC2100?). I am planning on upgrading to an A64 3000+ on a Socket 939 or 754 board. Is it okay to use this RAM and if so how much of a difference would it make compared with 400FSB RAM or whatever the regular speed RAM is...
Or Fujitsus, I love my S6000.
Besides just because IBM is selling their PC business does not mean that the future PCs from them will suck under the new company.
Unfortunately, since Netflix dropped their prices a few weeks ago there service has become much slower. They've added a day on both sending and receiving. Turnaroud has gone from 3-4 days to 5-6 days for me. Fortunately my cost went from $22 to $16. I hope once the large batch of newcomers get...
I am trying to put a Web Folder in My Computer but can't seem to do it. It will only allow me to create it in My Network Places. I have tried dragging it into My Computer and Mapping a Network Drive, neither of which work. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how?
Thank you.
Okay I signed up for NetFlix's free 2 week trial and there is the option to switch to 2 for 15 but unfortunately the limit is 4 per month. I figure I'll do the unlimited for the first 6-10 weeks and then swith to the cheaper deal. That should last me at least a year or more.
I'm looking for an online one because there aren't any rental shops nearby. Also I'm looking at about $15 a month rather than $20. Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can hear more suggestions.
Definitely. Evading police, particularly at extremely high speeds on busy highways, is one thing that I don't belive the public or police should have any tolerance of. It is unfortunate that they chose to run when they had relatively minor infractions but the fact remains that they made that...
I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to Netflix. I don't watch a ton of movies so I am willing to just have two movies out. Has anyone tried any alternatives? These are some that I've found:
QwikFliks
Cafe DVD
FlickFlix
Any thoughts on these or others?
Thanks a bunch.
I'm starting grad school now and I need a b/w laser printer to do a lot of printing. I would also like a scanner so I can make copies and send efaxes. An ADF is nice though not necessary. The best I've found so far when considering everything including price, looks, size and obviously features...
I currently have this motherboard and a Duron 600. I would like to upgrade my processor and since the Bartons seem to be much more prevelant than the Thoroughbreds and have double the L2 I was thinking of getting a 2600 version of that. The problem is that my MOBO only supports a 266 FSB whereas...
Is there any way to make Office 2003 look like Office 2000? As it is right now it looks way to fluffy and annonying. I want to use office to get work done not have fancy blue highlights on menus and bright white colors. Is there some option that I'm missing?
Thanks for any help or guidance.
Alright I found out the reason for my red monitor, it is the monitor's fault (or the cable). I remembered that my girlfriend's laptop has a monitor attachment so I tried it out and sure enough the screen was still red. Fortunately it is a KDS which has a pretty good warranty. I don't have my...
Sorry for not being more specific. I have a Panaflo installed in the PS and one on the CPU with a ALPHA PAL 8045T. They are both operating smoothly for over a year. The inside of the case was very clean with only a little dust. According to the MB the CPU is at about 35C. With the case open and...
Well I just got a cheap card from Circuit City and it does the same thing. Hmmm, I wonder what it could be. I'll try the monitor cables again. I sure hope its not the monitor itself beacuse I can't afford a new one right now. The monitor does show colors though when it has the "self-test" screen...
Okay, thanks for the replies so far. I've made sure that the cables are tight and clean so that shouldn't be a problem. I've also opened up the case in my cold room and that doesn't help either. I'm starting to think that the video card must have just got too hot at one point nad now it is fried...
Hello my computer started crashing yesterday for seemingly no reason every five minutes. I tried doing a fresh install of Windows XP on a formatted drive and it continued to crash. Now all of a sudden my screen is red, even during the POST the bios is red. I know that it is not my monitor's...
Well I found a Sharp PC-UM10M with 256 MB of memory and a free external CD Drive for $1100 at a local store. I think I'm going to go for that since all my girlfriend needs it for is writing papers. Its less than three pounds which is really great and its a great price. Has anybody heard anything...
Hah! That's actually the article that I read that made me think of this. I would rather not have to pay a premium for an MP if I am only going to use one. Does anymone know if they will make these as XPs also. I sure hope so.
Is AMD planning on making an XP with 512kb cache that runs at 266MHz? I am wondering because I have a Gigabyte 7VTXH that has a VIA KT266A and I don't want to have to upgrade my board for one that supports 333 or have to underclock the chip.
