just check out dyndns.org that should take care of all your dynamic ip needs. once your available to your many user(s) security will be your next biggest problem :)
doesn't sound HD related. if it were you wouldn't be able to boot up at all and see the windows logo. i think its an OS problem. may need to reinstall or do some restoring if you can. try getting into safe mode.
personally i would just go with 1 512 mb dimm. that way you have all the expansion slots open to max out the available ram on the sys. another thing to note too is that having more sticks of ram is not as efficient as if the ram were on one stick. think of the time it would take to jump from one...
