Does anyone know if the IDE master and slave channels are still dependent, or are they running separate signal timings? In other words will a high speed ATA133 hard drive be slowed down if a CDRW, DVD or LS-120 SuperDisk is attached to the slave channel? Also, is the hard disk only slowed down...

Insane3D, The FAQ for the 8K5A2 on their site states the following: "AMD processor temperature detection. Regardless of AMD processor type, the processor temperature is detected via the onboard motherboard thermal sensor." Is this incorrect/outdated, or does it just apply to the temperature...

EPoX 8K9A2+ KT400 Review!!

There are two reasons I haven't chosen either the 8K5A2 nor the new 8K9A, those being that Via is rumored to be readying a VT400A, and also because of EPoX's decision to back off on reading the on-die thermosensor in the AthlonXPs and newer Durons due to confused users returning perfectly good...

CyNics I never stated that I knew for sure which heatsinks would fit and which wouldn't (I haven't purchased one as of yet). All I claimed was that the photos of the various versions of the 8K5A2/2+ showed quite a bit of difference in the spacing between the CPU socket and the northbridge...

While reading thru the earlier posts I noticed that Athlonstein mentioned that his 8k5a2+ came with the rectangular northbridge heatsink. I would have preferred that EPoX would have continued using that version due to the limited area between the socket and the heatsink. Some reviewers/posters...
