Operating System Install Question

No it is not more efficient to have a partition for applications. But honestly, it's really just a matter of preference. There is nothing technically incorrect about installing your apps on a separate partition, but if your O.S. goes belly up, you'll still have to reinstall your apps...

What is the best way to portition my hard drive ?

My suggestion: - 30 gig for OS and Apps - 1 gig for swap file - The rest for Data Note: I would also recommend pointing your My Documents folder to the Data Partition.

No DNS With Static IP

If you go to the configuration web page of your router, under status, you should see listed the DNS servers of your ISP. Just write them down and add them to the TCP/IP properties of your lan connection. OR You could switch back to DHCP (Obtain IP Address Automaticaly) on your Lan connection...

No, it's not a bad idea to do it that way. Win2K server has much more options in DHCP than the router does, even if you'll probably never use all of them. You may need it if you want to do RRAS though. I would use the Win2K server for DNS also however. Active Directory wont work if you don't...

You have to use your DC for DNS, or Active Directory won't work. If your DC is the root DNS server on your domain, you will be able to forward DNS searches to your ISP's DNS server or you could use the root hints. All your computers on your network must use your DC for DNS.
