A long time ago I did. I was helping a friend build a new computer and he decided to install the video card himself while I was out getting us some chow. He put the video ram in backwards (remember this was a long time ago) and when he turned it on the thing lit up like a christmas tree.
Thanks for the replies. You've all pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. I think I'll be waiting until this fall/winter and look into a DDR Athlon4 upgrade.
Hey all,
Looking for some thoughts on a possible minor upgrade. I found a 800 Slot A T-Bird for $49.95 and am thinking about buying it. My current rig has a Classic 700 in it. Do you think it's worth the upgrade? I'm really not ready to do a full MB/CPU upgrade right now, but $50 I can...
I just installed Mandrake 7.1 on my Armada 7730MT (P166, 80MB RAM). Everything is great except for one problem. When it's set to 1024x768 resolution I only see a portion of the desktop in KDE or Gnome. Everything you can see looks great, but you can't get to the menu bar at the bottom of the...
The only info I know of is here http://www.monitorworld.com/Monitors/pixelvision/
The PixelVision monitors they sell have a regular HD15 connector. They mention needing a fixed frequency video card. Maybe you can find some info there to help.
FWIW I checked NT Compatible's listing and it was reported to work flawlessly under all RC's for W2K. I would assume that was using the NT4 drivers since the test was 11/99.
One of the machines I'm running right now has just started to have a strange problem. Before I start ripping it apart and swapping what parts I can I thought I'd see if anyone else has had this problem occur.
When you power on the computer it counts the memory really slow. It takes over a...
Here's what I have right now. An 8 port 10/100 switch with a 5 port 10/100 hub uplinked to it. I need to add a few more machines to the network.
Can I just uplink a second 8 port switch to the first one and still have a 100 base network? The reason I ask is that I seem to recall reading...
From the MS knowledge base.
"Standard Mode Messages
If you get any of the following error messages, remove any memory managers (such as EMM386.exe, QEMM, or 386Max) from your Config.sys file, and then run Setup again.
Standard Mode: Invalid DPMI return.
Standard Mode: Fault in...
M575, is that the "Top Gun" board? with a TX Pro chipset (ALi)?
You can get a BIOS and Flash utility for that board here PC Wave
MS has a KB article on SUWIN errors here
For a cheap MB those boards really weren't all that bad and they were cheap.
Thanks for the info guys. Like I said I know next to nothing about T1's. Basically it sounds like I can't do what I was thinking, run data and voice across the T's 24 channels (kind of like DSL and voice on the same line), I think we'll just go the DSL route.
Thanks for the education on T1's.
It doesn't sound to bad. What kind of board?
Keep in mind that for less than $100 more you could get a Socket A setup at the same speed and it would be upgradeable.
We have a T1 at work and I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about setting one up for internet access. This probably isn't even possible, but I know nothing about it. Right now we use it for a bunch of phone lines. Is it possible to keep using it for that and also use it for net...
<< Is 230 watts recommended for 800 T-bird? Not necessarily your problem but I thought T-birds were rcommended to have 300 watt ps's. >>
Not necessarily. As I understand things it has more to do with the quality of power the PS is outputting. I know there are quite a few 250W PS's that are...
A buffer underrun occurs when a computer can't feed data to the CDRW fast enough. The buffer empties and a coaster is made. This is because burning needs to be continuous. So the drive can't just remember where it was and start up again when the drives buffer fills up again (except with the...
