That is incorrect. An EDTV is a great display. I own a Panasonic EDTV that has served me well, and it looks great with HD material from a 6' viewing distance. I play both HD-DVDs and Blu-rays on it.
However, for 799, you can certainly find a deal on an HDTV. Just keep an eye out. Don't bite...
Actually, I checked the stock at local stores on my closest Office Depot's PC. I called the store that had two, confirmed stock, then asked them what their price was... 269.99? The stock computer I had checked on rang up at 134.04. Lame. =/
You're right, the A1 may not be the choice for a main player anymore... but I use my Xbox 360 for my primary playback device, and I've been wanting a better DVD player/HD device for my bedroom. This fits the bill. Again, thanks OP.
Thanks OP. I think I'm in for one. I know it's slow, but the analog audio outs are sweet and no shipping and no tax makes it even better. I'm not terribly worried about not getting the 5 free movies, as none of them are terribly good, at least IMHO.
Definitely an improvement, but the 64-bit bus is really going to cripple this card. I don't think at that resolution you're going to do any gaming at all.
In for one. Got shot down at two Walmarts (one said they called Sears, even though Sears was closed by that time). Finally got them to give me one at the Walmart closest to me (and farthest from Sears). All the managers signed off on it. Core system, here I come.
It does look like a nice printer, but it only uses one cartridge. I would much prefer to have a printer that had black separate from the color cartridge. Still, it's probably a nice buy.
No. The 9550 is an underclocked 9600. Completely different chips. The 9250 is running a diluted version of the 8500's chips, the R200. It's pretty old tech.
I just finished building a PC with the Minuet. I like it; it's not a bad case at all.
Anyway, I chose the Gigabyte 9550 that Newegg has listed here. One thing you have to be wary about when choosing a low profile card is that it includes a low profile bracket. A lot of cards that are...
Hmm. I just got back from Wal-mart in Ruston, LA, where I picked up a US Robotics 802.11g router for $30. Didn't see any of these, but I wasn't really looking. I'll take another trip back if anyone else confirms.
Interesting that you guys are having such problems with XFX cards. I run an XFX 5800 and a 5200 and I've never had a problem with either. Plus, when I didn't get a low-profile bracket with my 5200, I emailed XFX and they volunteered to send me one at no charge. Sorry to hear that your...
Umm... the fact that you're running only 384mb RAM is NOT going to help things. Personally, I wouldn't run XP with less than 512mb, and preferably 1gb.
I think if you click the link in the first post you'll get somebody else's info when you go to check out.
There's no way they'll honor this. Looks like they just left off an extra 9.
I have a very early Sempron. It hits 2.5ghz with 1.6v. It will probably do 2.6ghz, but I'm waiting for my DFI motherboard to get here to do some additional testing.
I can't see recommending a Mobile Barton to anyone over this processor... it's a ton faster. The only case where the Mobile...
This really is a good deal. These must be the new UL sticks that have Samsung TCCD chips - they're really awesome.
If they were BH-5, the timings would be listed as 2-2-2-6.
Either way, fantastic price! I'm tempted to go for some, even though I don't need them.
Not true. The Asus A8V Rev. 2.0 is a very good board. So are the MSI and Gigabyte NF3 boards, although some have had mixed experiences with the MSI and the Giga is a bit too expensive.
Ludacris... the rapper?
Just kidding. It's ludicrous, though. ;)
Anyway, make sure you've updated to the latest BIOS. Reseat the processor and reapply thermal paste if necessary.
My board seems to have problems reading CG-stepping A64 temps properly.
Single-sided is a simple way to make sure your RAM runs fine. Tom's Hardware has an excellent article on memory compatibility; the only RAM that worked in ALL of their motherboards without a hitch was this Crucial stuff.
It overclocks pretty well, too. 3-3-3-8 timings aren't that great, but I...
