Must be an Asian thing - my parents gave me Gifted Hands to read too, in the hopes that I'd become a doctor. I really respect that Ben Carson though, I saw an interview with him after that failed operation to separate the twins conjoined at the head and I thought to myself that he's exactly the...
I have an OK setup (HD280 Pros/Audiophile 2496) but I don't hear a difference between Winamp/WMP
Someone else posted about the same problem last week so maybe I'm missing something
I cannot wait for this f*&king week to end so I can go home. I've lost 3 lbs this past week because I haven't felt like eating or sleeping, just staying up. Also I found out I have worse hypoglycemia than I thought and I'm pretty much guaranteed to develop diabetes. Sucks ass
At least I have...
I consider myself pretty mild-mannered and laid back. But tonight my sister (who happens to be rooming with me this year) pushed her luck with her bitchy self-entitlement too far and I honestly thought I would explode and give her a black eye right there. Kind of surprised me as I didn't see...
Not working at the moment. My first Christmas bonus was when I was working at a grocery store at 16. It was a check for 23 cents stapled on top of my already meager pay.
Give 'em a break, it's a foreign company. There are mistakes all over that site. Like Chris Rock said, [paraphrased] "It's like playing basketball with a retarded kid and calling him for double dribble...you just gotta let some s#!t slide."
Sometimes direct evidence is less reliable than circumstantial evidence. For example, eyewitness testimony (which can be direct evidence) may be skewed or biased whereas forensic evidence (circumstantial) might have more probative worth.
Anyway, I'll stop hijacking this thread.
I've been using the HD-280 Pros for the past few weeks. Nice cans
For a headphone amp, if you've space for a rackmount size, look into the Behringer HA4700 Powerplay Pro ($100). It powers up to 12 cans and sounds pretty good.
I got that system, but could never get the mobo working properly (constant lockups). Last time I checked they hadn't released any new BIOS. I replaced it with a Biostar M7VIG and haven't had a problem since.
Not that the rules of evidence apply here, but circumstantial evidence is used all the time in civil and criminal trials. Sometimes it's used to convict in the absence of any direct evidence.
Once my parents promised to take me to McDonald's on the way to a park, but I fell asleep in the car and when I woke up I was cranky as hell and we were already at the park. I don't remember it but my sister and cousin told me that I stood at the edge of a precipice and threatened to kill...
I read a magazine where they conducted some blind tests using different types of cable, including Monster. The other stuff was decent too but not as expensive (they even used lamp cord). They concluded that Monster was no better than any decent cable (even lamp cords). They also hooked...
There are people suffering under worse oppression in North Korea, and possibly in China and dozens of other countries. North Koreans are being starved and slaughtered right now. If humanitarian concerns were really the reason why we spent all this $$ and soldiers' lives, and another $87B to...
This is why I hate taking my dog out walking through my parents' neighborhood. I have to avoid certain streets because a couple of owners never chain their dogs, and me and my dog have been attacked a couple times by larger dogs
I think they're hoping to convert it to a democracy by installing a capitalist economy. No one would commit $87B to rebuilding a country unless there were lucrative returns
Took it 5-6 times until I got a perfect score.
"If you are American, the only way you got this score is by doing the quiz 50 times, and memorizing the correct answers. You need to approach the world in a less aggressively competitive way and learn to live with your inadequacies, rather than...
Here's a site about PTSD that may be helpful:
http://www.ncptsd.org/
Also I recommend checking out the movie "Fearless," with Jeff Bridges. It's about a guy who tries to find meaning in his life after he survives a plane crash.
Sounds like symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Whenever something bad happens you dissociate yourself and look at the situation like you're watching a movie or someone else's life.
Sometimes the numbness and detachment is useful for coping with high stress, but I think it will start...
Well, assuming there's a Gaussian normal distribution :P
Which seems appropos...when people refer to someone as average looking, they *usually* mean neither good or bad looking
