TCP SYN Flooding and IP Spoofing on my Security Log

Actually I'm using a Dlink 614+ router and I'm seeing those logs as well. One think I noticed though, it logs Spoofing whenever there is a computer starting up and requesting a DHCP address. And for TCP SYN flooding, I get that whenever someone on the network is running P2P service (like edonkey).

Are the other computer plugged in to the same switch also? You might want to try to type in the name of the other computer to try to connect to the other computer. Go to start -> run -> \\name_of_computer

I can console, telnet and ping my cisco 2501 router but 2501 router can't ping back

what are the addresses / subnet mask on the aui ethernet and your lappy? Since you can ping your 2501 from your lappy, and you can also telnet to the router, it seems like it's working correctly. Maybe try to ping 127.0.0.1 on your laptop and see if you get a response? :P

Loopback Interface Glitch?

That's because they ARE on the same network. Your network address is 192.168.100.64/26 and the range is .64-.127 You cannot put 2 addresses that are on the same network onto 2 different interfaces. I guess this is just a way to not let the router get confused. Or else the router would not...

Router Problem: I get link, my Router gets IP and gateway, yet computers can't do anything - FIXED

I don't know if this would help or not, but one time when I tried to connect my PC directly to the modem it got some DNS suffix. But when I tried to connect my PC to the router, it wouldn't go to the outside world and the DNS suffix was gone. I played around with my router, forgot what I did...

Just pickup a cisco 2501 router and a 1912 switch

Bandwidth Limiting

Maybe set up a web interface and teach the admins how to change some settings for bandwidth limiting on the Cisco router? Or set up auto command to do specific tasks with different accounts?

Network Mystery

Maybe check the NAT table on the router also. It might be the NAT table is full and causing the packets drop in the connections. Like you said, file-sharing programs definitely would affect the number of entries in the NAT table.

getting worms off "bad" networks

My guess is welchia worm also. About 2 months ago I had to deal with it in the company. Generally, if the machine has not been patched, it will get infected. So if all of them computers in the entire subnet is not patched, every one of them is infected. Yeah it's a nasty worm but I think...

I'm assuming you are talking about a Cisco router. I'm not sure why you would want to do that, because if one switch fails, don't you have to manually reconnect all the cables to the 2nd switch? If you have 2 NIC cards on the PC and each connected to a different switch, wouldn't you have...

Why are the clients on network restricted to 10mbits?

Have you checked if both side are on auto sensing? Sometimes auto sensing would do weird things. Maybe try to manually set both side (switch and the NIC) to 100M

I've just unlocked my XP1800+ processor WITH A PENCIL!!!
