GTX 460 vs 5850 w/ rig which?

Truth. They broke the drivers after 10.5 now they've fixed them and are claiming massive increases in performance. AMDs drivers have always been worse than nVidia's but the current situation is just laughable. I had purchased a second 5850 and power supply for going Crossfire this past weekend...

Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC - $39.99 FS at Amazon (price increase)

Good price I paid full price a day after it came out and it was totally worth it. The graphics are awesome, the singleplayer was arguably better than MW2, and the multiplayer is definitely refreshing.

Ordered one of the Sapphires this morning from TD and looks like it just shipped. Definitely overpriced considering MSRP was supposed to be $260 but it doesn't seem like prices will be coming down until early next year so I'm happy :) Thanks again OP!

Original MSRP was $259. Once ATI realized there was going to be a shortage they increased prices by something like $20. Then the e-tailers did the same so the going price for a 5850 is $300-$315. $309.99 is pretty much standard for a 5850 and likely will remain that way until after Xmas.

Debating the same thing. I have an E2180 at 3.0. You'll probably be able to OC to 3.5-4.0 and it should run cooler. You may or may not notice the difference though.

An attempt at a ghetto gaming PC

Like the others said it's probably best to get a case/PSU combo for this build. For CPU get either a E2180 or E2160. Both are less than $60 and fly when OCed. For graphics an 8800GT or 9600GT even would do nicely. I would also try to find a cheap P35 board if possible but that might be pushing it.

Stick to A64 3000+ or upgrade to E2180? Need some advice...

e7200 isn't bad but I was looking for maximum bang for buck. The E2180 was $60 shipped. E7200 is $110+ and E8400 is $150+. My E2180 is at 2.6 stock voltage w/ stock cooler right now and it flies. I'm guessing it will hit 3.2+ with better cooling and a small voltage bump. Not that the other two...

what's the better RAM between these 2?

I would say Mushkin because of lower timings. You linked the Gskill twice but if the Mushkin is the one I'm thinking of then I think it comes with 3DMark as well for what its worth.

Cheap Gaming Rig at $700, aiming for $600

You mentioned that you also wanted a case and HDD. Given that you're budget is $600 and you are already over you either need to raise your budget or make some cuts. I would ditch the quad and 4870 and go for a Duo and 4850. That should knock off $200 giving you cash for a good case and HDD...

Any reason to still have a floppy drive in a modern pc?

Not really. I ditched the floppy drive 3 years ago and never looked back. Actually just reinstalled XP today and the install went flawlessly without a floppy drive. If you need drivers or something burn em to a CD and boot off the CD. Better yet slipstream them into your Windows install.

NEC 20WMGX2 for $480 @ Sam's Club

Part of it is due to the glossy screen. Most LCDs have an antiglare coating. This has a glossy screen like a CRT monitor. Makes the colors more realistic.

I get a similar score with a 3200+ @ 2.5. I think the CPU has a lot to do with it since the CPU test is optimized for dual core.
