lol The day I decide to post about it a critical patch comes out. The patch seems to have fixed issues I had, good news for anyone with similar issues, get new patch :D
I have an Audigy 2 soudcard and everythign works fine except in two cases. When im playing WC3 the sound is normal most of the time but sometimes it starts skipping, like a 1 second loop of sound over and over and i have to restart game to get rid of it. And even stranger is my Diablo 2 game...
You guys are funny, not shure if you can remember way back to January but until that point RDRAM stomped DDR. Dual DDR 400 only came out a few months ago and untill then RDRAM had significant advantage. Early in 2002 you could get dual PC1066 with 4.2GB/sec bandwidth, at the same time single...
Ya I thought of that too but really this is just a semi temp that I dotn want to put to much money into. I basically wanna be able to play wc3 and maybe RTcW decently, dotn mind low settings. Ill probably have the computer for only a month or two before I get my good one back, look at rig at...
Ok im on a shiity computer right now for reasons not worth going into. Basically I need to make as cheap an upgrade as possible to get acceptible performance, or at least a good improvement over what I got. No major overhaul suggestions please its a temp and dont want to spend much over $100...
Best choice stock or ocing
P4 2.53 = $189 Here
Gigabyte GA-8SQ800 = $102 Here
Its the fastest chipset avalibe (SiS 655) and usis duel channel DDR
The 2.53 will be able to oc over 3Ghz air cooled if you do that sort of thing
If you dont OC this setup is easily the fastest of any mentioned here
With 32bit ram (RIMM4200) you get the effects of duel channel memory with 1 stick. If you add a second it will not increase your bandwidth performance but it will increase system performance. If you play games and what not i would recomend another 256 of ram if your looking for an upgrade.
We are not as arrogent as parts of the world are ignorant. Its like a doctor removing a cancer off a childs skin. He might go kicking and screemeing into the procedure but it will benifit him in the long run. We dont plan on holding this child hostage after its removal but he might have to...
I beileve i have already stated that regardless of any underlying political reasons their might be (and you feel like using) the fact that a horrible dictator is being overthown is a welcome side effect that alone is worth the efforts. Is it a crime to help one homeless person when there are...
You seem to be driven by something other than rational thought. I myself dont like Bush and voted for Gore and live in FL, I seemed to get over it though. You are being somewhat overdramatic about the end of the world deal. Weather or not this war is legal by the standards of the UN its...
I truly dont understand the Anti-American setiment. What other country spends so much money to feed the hungry and protect the innocent. This war will free a people from horrible dictator regardless of any political undertone. How would you like to go and live over there under his rule after...
GamePC
RV-Zone
Wish has support for 800MHz and also real RIMM 4800. If they can ad those two plus get the RIMM 4200 performance up to at least the 850E chipset I think we will have a winner. Maybe a revised version of the chipset in a few months would do this (possibly R658b).
Probably just...
HT is hyper-threading and you will want to get it. The Intel 3.06 is the first chip to have HT enabled and it allows the cpu to work more effeciently by tackling 2 strings of info at the same time. More info about it here.
For some user feedback of the MSI you can read them here under read...
Better than mine. I have a pretty decent system but only a geforce2 ultra in it :( its a major bottleneck in benching but honestly I can play all my games well so doesnt matter to me......must hold out till i can get a $250 9700 Pro in a while.
Actually the price performance of the 2600/2700 arent that great. The 2400 price/performance is good but at the 2600/2700 Intel is better being both cheaper and having better performance.
A) thats assuming those are at same clock speed B) 2194.40 is hardly 2600 speed thats over 2700 speed which is 2170
So basically you lied before, or just didnt know, your choice
Well the non barton 2800 can sometimes beat the 3000 barton but its 2.25 not 2.13 like the 2600
I dont give out my email. But how can any chip at 2600 beat a chip at 3000 in a CPU test? Even if the Barton was not an improved chip and was based only on MHz a 2600 is only 2.13GHz while the 3000 is 2.17GHz.
Show me a review where a 2600 beats a 3000, and dont think your chip is some godly...
My 2.53 can oc to 3GHz too without trying and thats with a RDRAM, but since hes not gonna oc at all i dont think he cares. He obvioulsy has a bunch of cash so for the fastest avalible chip on the market at stock speed intel wins (actually XP 3000 costs more and doesnt even perform as well in...
AMD up till the XP2400 because of the price performance after the XP2400 and starting with the P4 2.53 Intel wins because of price performance. At the top and the Intel 3.06 beats out the AMD 3000+ because its less expensive and also faster in 2 out of 3 applications. Now this is in terms of...
Id go with an Intel since your aiming at the high end and AMD looses its price performance advantage there. I would recomend either the Intel 850E or SiS 655 chipsets. Good motherboards with those chipset include Asus P4T533-C (Intel 850E), Asus P4T533* (Intel i850E), Gigabyte GA-8SQ800 (SiS...
Here
When will we actually see these on mobos? When will first chipset support it? How much does it cost? How much faster will it actually be?
Could be fun:)
Actually thats sorta wrong Ice9, ill help out here 32bit RDRAM is used in two mobos actually the Asus P4T533 and the EPOX EP-4T4A+ Here (notice the 32bit 232pin ram it uses). Also with 32bit ram you must install CRIMMs in any unused slots, thats the same as 16bit. The advantage is you can...
Looks good, thats a 2.66 P4 with 533FSB not a 2.6 with 400FSB right. Well how come you dont want anything ati? Honestly im not a fanboy of one or another but unless you want a overpriced underperforming FX card, you will be stuck getting an aged Geforce4 Ti card that isnt DX9 capable. I know...
Id go with an Intel since your aiming at the mid to upper end and AMD looses its price performance advantage there, but dont get a 400Mhz FSB one like the 2.6 get the 533Mhz (either 2.53 or 2.66). I would recomend either the Intel 850E or SiS 655 chipsets. Good motherboards with those chipset...
Opps, my bad, looked at wrong post
See were not crazy its everyone else
Actually a few weeks ago I installed UT when I was board and boy it looks like crap after playing these newer games, immediatly uninstalled, cant even imagine how HL would seem.
For right now im sticking to RTCW and UT...
Evan Lieb
saw that you edited yourself, saying before that you thought that UT was better than HL
I was the same way never quite understood the infactuation of that game by one of my best friends. Another friend and I always thought that UT was way better, couldnt even stand to look at HL...
Storyline??!! I dont know about other people but I dont give a damn about storylines in FPS games, infact make that most games. I dont think iv ever played a FPS where I wasnt searching for the escape button when it got to cutscenes unless the graphics just looked cool. If I need a freekin...
