Just a sales gimmick...kinda like those car dealers that say "if we can't beat the other guy's price, it's free". Hmm...the dealer can either give you a price $1 under, or eat the entire car as a loss. Tough choice!

Yes, Conext is/was/used to be the "value" brand from APC. I have had the same UPS for some time, works great. I believe Conext went bye bye, but the UPS should be fine for years :)

Not a bad deal, although Newegg has the chips for $180, free ship. Not sure about the board, but still a decent bundle, I think. I went with the stripped down MSI board myself. I'm curious about the overclock tho -- do you have a link to the info?

I'll add that this game takes "wrong" to a new level. It's wrong on every level and then some. Can be extremely fun, however. Plus it's got a white suit-wearing, grenade-tossing, "muhaha"-ing Gary Coleman (who also was the model for some of the animations).

Carquest ain't too bad tho. I'd assume they're not the premium ones, but Carquest=NAPA=Wix, considered one of the best bargain filters. It's much better than throwing a Fram up in there. What sort of oil do you use? For 12.95, that's a great deal provided you change it 3-4k miles.

Forgot to mention: You can get a very generic report (but free) at WorthKnowing They rate you on a 100 point scale, and they (in my experience) include things that even the big 3 don't, but it's easy and quick and would be a good indicator to people that score low that they may want to take...

As a "starter" case it looks...well it looks to be about 12.50 worth of case :) Personally, I think the placement of the PS really kills it if you intend to run any chip produced this century, but if you had an old p5-class, it'd probably be ok, assuming no one had to tinker around inside much...

Darn... I hate articles like this because they WILL (at least on some scale) affect prices. Simple supply and demand (and the long-timers see this over and over). Price goes up. People buy less RAM. RAM still being producing, sitting in warehouses. Prices drop to clear out the stockpiles...
