Remove the sticker on the fan, apply a drop or two of oil, let it settle a bit, and put the sticker back on.

What is the best way to make your Case quieter?

As long as you don't have a CPU oc'ed to 2.6 GHz, keep the # of fans to a minimum. Excessive cooling can't hurt, but isn't necessary. Prebuilt computers come w/ a minimum # of fans and they run fine (well if they don't I doubt it's because of heat). I've run my PC with a minimum # of fans and...

    Problem with Canon Bubblejet printer

Thanks! That was exactly the problem w/ my Canon. I cleaned it up with some swabs and it prints fine now. EDIT: After cleaning it up, I printed a test page, and it worked fine. A few hours later.. same problem.. there was nothing to clean up and when I looked at the 'lines' that were being...

    Problem with Canon Bubblejet printer

I'm having a problem with my BJC-4300 where after every line the printer prints, it leaves a four thin lines of ink - blue, red, yellow (the 3 colors in the color cartridge), and black. I tried printing from DOS and Windows, replacing the ink cartridges, replacing the print head, and performing...

    Running Geforce2 MX w/o fan?

Would it be safe to run a Geforce2 MX (Inno3D) w/o a fan? I don't plan on overclocking at all.

Well, depends on your viewpoint. I've read some posts where people have 10+ case fans, although I myself have 0.

    Noise Reduction project!! please read!!

I've been trying to cut back the noise too and I've kept it simple - two fans, one 80mm 19.8 dB fan in the PS and one for the CPU HS. My hard drive is in a SilentDrive enclosure and is inaudible.

open a power supply to replace noisy fan?

It also may depend on your PS. I have an Antec PP253X and the fan wires aren't soldered - they're just connected with a connector housing/crimp pins, like case fans.

Where to get replacement fan for 3D Prophet

The only place I can find that sells a replacement Geforce fan is Tennmax, but I would prefer not to spend $19 on a fan like that - and I don't overclock anyway - I just need a replacement fan (about 40x40x6mm) because I'm going to sell the card soon. I tried contacting Guillemot for a...

The best "quiet" 80mm case fan?

I think PC&P make them - most of Quietpc.com's products are made by other companies - like the SilentDrive enclosure and the Radial Fin quiet CPU HS/F, which are both Molex products. I don't know who makes their PS though. EDIT: On second thought, maybe someone else makes the fans, since...

Retrofit of Toshiba Infinia case. Anyone done it?

<< Rain Man - were you able to add a second (or third)fan? I would presume in the front of the case - did this require modification? There seems to be no external venting. >> I have one case fan in front - there should be a large plastic bracket where a 80mm fan should fit in. There is no...

Best QUIET cooling for overclocked FCPGA processors?

<< Like to reuse this quality case as the new home for a CUSL2. This is the black mid-tower, with sliding side panels and ATX 230W power supply (I believe). Back plane appears to be std ATX. Anyone done this one? >> I still use the Infinia case - and have made several modifications. Feel free...

Best Cut-Off Wheel for a Dremel, to use on cases?

I've been using #426 and when I run out even the flimsier #409 it works OK. It wears out after a while, but not after 12in. What are you trying to cut into? Just the regular ~1mm thick steel? If you're having trouble, try to cut in different ways - like cutting at a different angle and applying...

The best "quiet" 80mm case fan?

The best "quiet" 80mm case fan?

<< Rain Man- Do you feel those Papst fans are as quiet as the Silencers? >> I wouldn't be able to tell because I don't have any. << And what is the difference between Sintec Bearing and Ball Bearing? (I see that Papst fans come in both varieties?) >> I believe 'Sintec' is their way of...

The best "quiet" 80mm case fan?

The best quiet 80mm fan would be the Papst 8412NGML (26.5CFM@19dB) but I don't know any place that sells them other than in Europe. I haven't tried the Addas or Panaflos, but I have a few Silencers (28CFM@20dB) and Nidecs (25CFM@19.8dB) - and the Nidecs feel stronger than the Silencers, even...

    Golden Orb surface slightly pitted....

Do you mean the round ridges on the surface? The gold is just paint, I'm pretty sure - Thermaltake seems to like to make all their products look nice. I lapped mine to make it flat, but it only decreases CPU temp by 1-2C

Overclocked Celeron 366 not stable anymore

I bought a Celeron 366 for my Dad's PC about a year ago and it was pretested to work at 550 @ 2.0v (bought it from Minotaur). It was stable at 2.2v in a Abit BM6. What voltage are my case LEDs?

The motherboard supplies +5V to the LEDs. Most blue LEDs have a voltage drop of >5V. The ones I bought from Radio Shack are 3-4V. I think Digikey also has some that are 3-4V.

What voltage are my case LEDs?

I bought some blue LEDs from Radio Shack (part # 900-8005), and they work fine - a bit too bright though, so you may want to add a current limiting resistor, unless you want it to be that bright.

how do i make round ide/scsi cables?

I don't know about the SCSI cables because I don't have SCSI, but for IDE, cut the insulation with a razor every 5 wires, making a small slit no more than an inch long and then tear the rest along by hand - this won't tear through the insulation exposing the wires (with a razor, since it slices...

How to extend case wires (Power SW, Reset SW...) to reach motherboard

The wire coming from the sleep button and hard drive access light in my case are both too short to reach the pins on the motherboard. I managed to use a CDROM audio cable and two broken off pins from a 2400 baud modem to make a crude extension for the hard drive access light cable. It works...
