In your BIOS, is your computer set to run first from a bootable CD and then the hard drive? if not, change the setting to read from the CD before going to the hard drive.
This isn't a problem. Most LCD screens will lose the signal because the computer is busy turning itself on and then moving to booting a signal to the display.
I did for about 30 minutes just to see how it ran, but I would be ordering those faster processors quickly.
Crucial 3200 should do you just fine with this board.
I commuted my freshmen year of college and I came out with the same ammount of friends and school activities as any other freshmen. Granted, I did stay at my buddies dorm a couple of nights because of late events, but I don't think commuting ruined the experience.
