But have you tried rasing the voltage/speed on your VF700 to see if the better cooling helps. If it does you know its a heat problem and can go from there.
VF700 at 5 volts is not that much cooling. What temps do you get when you bumb up the core? Does raising the voltage get rid of the problems? I don't think that the ATITool artifact tester works 100% with the 7900GT so I would double check with other programs to test for stability/artifacts. Run...
When you word it like that I would have to agree. I kind of liked the 7800GT since I have a 7900GT and they are quite close in temps. But a X1900XT(X) is missing since they are the hottest/fastest cards around.
It does not. It shows the stock cooler giving a bit better temps but no way it shows it as more silent. You must have seen wrong. I see nothing wrong with the results. A loud fast spinning fan against Zalmans quiet slow moving fan I would figure gives these exact results.
I am very unhappy with my stock cooler on my 7900GT (555/800, no volt mod).
Golgatha: If you had taken the time to read the review you would have noticed he tested the card inside a case with only 1 slow moving fan as cooling. That makes the test valid in my opinion. Granted a X1900XTX...
ForceWare 84 Series Roundup@www.ngohq.com
Since nobody in this thread seems to want to do anything ill just link to a relevant test of the different drivers. For those to lazy to read: no the 84.43 does not give any performance improvements except for the latest tombraider just like it is...
jmke from www.madshrimps.be writes in his latest VGA Cooler Roundup April 2006:
I have not been able to confirm if any of the suggested solutions actually work for me or if they work for 7900GT cards at all. But I figured they look interesting enough to give them a try. Please report back if...
How do you monitor your temps? Have you logged them and checked? If you leave a 3d app before you check temps it will go down drastically in seconds. So you need to log them or use a program like rthdribl that lets you monitor while running (or use two screens). Granted I have a low airflow...
With stock cooler I idle at 48C and I have seen a max of 73 under load. That is overclocked to 560core and 800 mem.
Here is an excellent temp viewer/logger

rthdribl does run with 3D clocks just like ATITool and just like any 3D would...
Nvidia out selling ATI by 4-1 is just Nvidia marketing. I don't believe it for a second.

No doubt Nvidia is doing well (I just bought a 7900GT which by the way is very loud. Fan always on 100%.) but not that well.
I just saw this over at guru3d. So I guess we are out of luck with this one. Annoys the hell out of me as I would never have bought this card if I had known this. Shame on you Nvidia!

I'm I blind or does this guide just outline the 1.5 core voltage? I would like to start with the 1.4 and test for stability. Or do I just connect the the most right one in the picture and the most left one to get 1.4? http://fuzzybabybunny.smugmug.com/photos/65741906-O.jpg
There is a thread about this here:7900gt fan won't quiet down . Its in fact a very common problem with currently no known solution. Some cards work some don't. I'm starting to think a RMA is the only solution. Even if a 3d party cooler could fix the symptoms I don't like the idea of having a...
I did a full format and fresh XP install and used 84.25. So its not that. Have you confirmed that your fans actually spins down? Try PCwizard and see if your fan really is doing anything but 100%.
I did read that you contacted them. That's why I suggested others contact (Which I have but not gotten a reply yet) them as well to see if it could be confirmed that there is no fan control at all on the 7900GT. Confirmed as from more then one source.
I believe Conroe isn?t coming out until this fall. Neither is the respin of the X1900.
Every one knows AMD and Intel are in bed with each other in X86 so assuming they are of the same sex then yes we are all gay. Not that its something wrong with that...
I have a PNY 7900GT and the fan is always at 100% according to PCwizard and my bleeding ears. Rivatuner dosent show any info on the fans or temps that I can find (RC15.8). The 7900GT was installed on a fresh copy of XP and so the 84.25 were the first and only drivers installed. All clocks stock...

Since the original was a double post I tought I'd make something out of this :D
Well my problem is just what the topic implies. When I try to post a comment on the Anandtech site it gives this message:

So the Cheat/bug is also in games. So all of you saying you didnt care beacuse it was only in benchmarks...
But are we really talking about workstations here? I fail to see how the buying decisions of graphic cards for workstations effects the prices on 3D-cards made for games. These cards are so very different. Just as you say the big corporations don?t demand 3D-cards hence are not a part of the...
Fair enough. I myself hold a degree in national economics, since that seems to be an issue here. I agree with you in all but your conclusion. The question I can?t find another answer to then previously implied in my posts is: Who does the Oem market sell to if not Joe User?
I think they indeed...
How is prices set on a market if not by supply and demand may I ask? If you don?t get that basic of how the economy you live in works you are really missing out.
You obviously did not read all of my post. My point is just as you say that we who take the time to discuss this and can judge a graphic card by other means then bold statements of 30-50% more performance or a single benchmarking program are not the ones that drive demand, an as such the price...
All of you who state you don?t care if they cheat in 3DMark for what ever reason makes me wonder. I agree that 3DMark is not important in itself (at least not to me). What is important to me is my dough. I like to play games and I want them to look and play as good as possible. But on that I...
What exactly is this "flaw" you are talking about? They have not shown us any flaw. They have given us the consumers an official set of drivers that manipulates 3DMark03 in a way that its not intended to do, and in no way did they tell us about it. This gives them higher scores in one of the...
