Please help me before I commit murder: Trying to repair an XP install

win98 boot floppy,make sure you choose option1 for cd drives. At A: Prompt,type in: cd drive letter w/xp cd/i386/winnt.exe You should now be able to run setup :) ie:cd in e: A:E E:i386/winnt.exe

Video problem...need second opinion.

taking a quick look-2 short beeps=ram error.I would test you ram with memtest86,or try different stick. Your ram has to work in order to get a video signal.(i think)

So, WTF do you do when XP fvcks up your theme and doesn't draw any text/windows?

Try reinstalling your video drivers.They could be corrupted.

Audigy2ZS Audigy1/2 modded install CD download site

The new creative Audigy 2 ZS drivers work with the other older cards. I managed to update my 5.1 card from the audigy2 .283 drivers(using Patch)to the newest ones: Driver Date:7/10/2003 Driver Version:5.12.6.402 i don't know what appz and such will work,only have drivers now.

I found this.If you update your pc and it slows down,this could be the cause: Hotfix Q811493 http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,110385,00.asp Uninstall this update,i did and my pc improved in speed alot.

HELP...my browser is hijacked

Go into tools>internet options>under home page click use default,this will give back reg microsoft site.It seems some web pages have the ability to change your default web page. happens to me every once and a while.Still wish i knew how they do it.

Just received an RMA'ed HDD from Maxtor, dead within 4 hours.

I bought a 120gig WD,and it was doa right out of the box![click,click].I rma'ed it Oct 1.,i just got it back Nov.1st!.1 whole month,and then it's a refurbished one none the less.Previous returned maxtors usually died within 5 months of getting rma's back.I know your pain.
