problems with Asus P4S800

specs : Asus Mobo, P4s800 proc: intel p4 2.4 ghz, 533 frontside, no HT ram, pc2100 512 crucial vid card, GeForce 2 Ti and random network adapter. i had another mobo, a ecs P4VXASD2+ V5.X. i got it for free when i bought the proc, want to upgrade to better mobo.. but now it doesnt post or...

I have a P4 2.4 ghz, 533 front side bus. the mobo says it supports 400, 533, and 800 bus speeds. the comp doesnt seem to boot, but everythign else is spinning, hdd, cdroms, so there is power to the board. i dont know why it doesnt want to post.. any help?

Counterstrike demo to avi

but the demo is played in counter-strike.. so would that still work?? Has anyone actually done this before.. because I know there are movies like this out there. I would like anyone that has done this before.

Windows XP or Windows 2000

There really isnt that big of a difference between the two OSes. Many sites have tested performance on the OSes and show no negligible difference. So I would suggest going with something that you're more comfortable with, prolly Win2k.

Dumb question...

No workaround, cause that would defeat the purpose of having an administrator pwd. If that was possible, then any person without those privelages could obtain the admin pass. You should reinstall the OS, and write down the password somewhere, or make it somethign easy, like your street adress...

Does XP even work for games?

You can try to get the service pack for XP. It should help, just go to the winupdate thing on the start menu. That should get some fixes for common problems. If that doesnt work, then try reinstalling the drivers again, but remember to uninstall the drivers completely first, then install...

How is CS these days?

Cstrike is a great game, but it does have its disadvantages : newb server admins that think you're hacking when you go on a 7-0 run with a pistol, and ban you. or turn you into a llama servers with all these extras, like glow commands, and extra sound You just need to play on the pure servers...

Counter-Strike slow on my puter

it could possibly be your RAM, so if i was having that problem, i would go out and buy some crucial RAM, and switch it out with the RAM that you have in there now. That's usually the cheapest and simplest place to start. does this only happen with cstrike? or with everything else?

Want to get back to INTEL ; need rock-stable setup !

I actually saw the demo of the D3a at QuakeCon here in dallas. It was great. And it wasnt running on any great hardware either, it was a Radeon 9700 and a Athlon 1.8, or so. Running very smoothly, he didnt say what res, but I guess that 640X480 because of the high frame rate.

Any point in using CAT6 on a DSL home network?

You know that 1.5 mbp/s is a speed that you wont reach often, even if you have the modem uncapped and CAT 6 cable. The speed difference between CAT 5 and CAT 6 is not that great, and since you already have wiring installed, it's a waste of time. All depends on the situation, if you have 5 feet...
