I am looking for a solution to use a USB device on my local machine to go over a RDP connection via a VPN to a remote machine using Remote Desktop. Basically, scan a bar code with a scanner connected to my laptop, have it write the output to the remote machine. There should be a way for...

A8N-SLI Premium Drivers

Back when I built this system the NVidia drivers were not the best. The thinking was to use the delivered Windows drivers. This is an nForce 4 SLI board. Are the latest NVidia drivers any good? Thanks!

Windows Updates - Killed your PC's performance?

I am not one to run Virus Scanners. Just to be sure I installed one, updated it and ran a full scan. Found nothing. Another thing I installed was the latest stable Folding client. I have disabled it, now lets see what happens...

Windows Updates - Killed your PC's performance?

Just after updating my PC with the latest patches it has been performing really poorly. This is slow, sometimes takes 45 seconds for the Start menu to display. CPU load is minimal. Has anybody else seen this as well? This is an AMD X2 3800 system with 2GB of RAM, so its not like it should...

Benchmarking Software

Is there any good free benchmarking software out there? I want to test some of the multi-core hot fixes from M$ to see if they are yeilding good results. I have found a few, like from futuremark, just want to make sure I am getting quality without viruses/spyware. Thanks!

Modem question.....

For many reasons you are better off with the ethernet connection. 1) Faster then USB 1.1 2) Frees up a USB port 3) Ethernet is made for this! 4) Ethernet will allow you to run a firewall 5) You were going to run your own firewall, right? 6) Right? Seriouly - A firewall is not optional...

SuSe 10.1 - 64 Bit any good?

Wireless not an issue for me. Any issues with NForce 4? NVidia has drivers for in, 64 bit. Or should I just go with the default install?

HT is at 4x Cool and quied - disabled cpu 240 cpu multi 10 PCI Clock 100 Mhz DDR Volt 2.8 Chip Volt 1.6 HT Volt 1.2 CPU Volt 1.450 PCI Clock Sync AUTO I can boot if I have the XP CD in the drive, just not without it. Should I run the HT at 1.25? Up the CPU volts? Lower the chipset...

OC = NTLDR is missing, even after reinstall?

OK, so I OC'd my AMD 3800 X2 to 2.4, upped the ram, running it 1:1. ASUS A8N-SLI Premium. Mushkin, 2 GB, XP. Could this screw up finding NTLDR? I 0'd the drive, complete reinstall on XP. Can't find NTLDR. I also switched to my last HDD, again could not find NTLDR. HELP!!! Thanks!

960 MHz??? AMD x2 3800+

Have a question... My CPU-Z result shows that my core speed is 960 MHz, Multiplier x 4.0, and HTT 240.0 MHZ. Does this sound right? Shouldn't the core be at 2400? I was following the settings found in the anandtech OC guide for the 3800. Article - - -...

Make sure your exposure is the same for all shots. If you let the camera re-expose every shot it will all look different.

DVD Authoring on Linux

DVD Authoring on Linux I have .mpg files I would like to crate a DVD from. What software do I need? I saw some that use the command line, but I would rather use a GUI. I spend too much time with CLI at work, and don't want to do it at home. Thanks!
