Text is not clear when running @ 1280x1024 w/ mini dock

If its just the text, try turning off cleartype and using "standard" in display properties>appearance>effects. You can also try turning it off. If that doesn't work, are you connecting through DVI or analog?

What speed memory should be used in a 600m?

Ok, I bought my 600m, its a 1.6 P-M with a 400mhz FSB. The funny thing is that the memory it comes with is listed on the Dell site as 266mhz. I took a look at my friend's pc, he has a 1.3 ghz 600m, and the FSB is listed as 4x100 (with a multiplier of 13). So does this mean I need memory...

Yeah, I'm going with the 32 MB card and SXGA+ screen. There's a funny thing I noticed... the FSB speed is 400mhz, but it comes with 266mhz speed memory. I ran sandra on my friend's 600m and it lists the fsb as 4 x 100mhz (he has a 1.3 ghz so it uses a 13x multiplier). Does this mean (if I add...

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't think I want to start preparing for Longhorn just yet. I think I'll go with the 32 unless someone else knows of a reason why the 64 would be better.

I got the 64mb module as well. I got it at one of the yahoo shopping sites. I'll try to find the address. Have any of you that have the 64 mb install tested whether its using all of it or just 32 mb of it? I always wondered, but I have nothing to print that would test it. Thanks!

The ones from Mastercard expire today. One nice item to consider is the Netgear Wireless Router. I picked it up a few days ago for 45-15-1 (those triva things) = 29 - 20 rebate = $9 AR! Not bad for wireless, though its 802.11b which is really all I need.

CraigRT, how do you find the onboard sound on the Soltek? I've been told the EPoX sound is a lot better, and that's the main thing holding me back. The OC potetial on the Soltek is amazing though.

T40 vs. 600m: Infuriating laptop information

No doubt that the T40 is better quality than the 600m, but if you price both systems, you'll see that a comparably equipped IBM costs at least $800 more. Some people, like me, would rather put that money into a desktop and use the laptop for light work.
