Among the gems available at the Dell Online Store sale described in this thread is this listing for the Epson 880:

Epson 880 printer $79.00 - $15.60 = $63.20

There is a $30 rebate available at the Epson web site that can be used with this too. You must submit an invoice with the rebate request -- order confirmation email messages or packing slips not allowed. You can do that by clicking the Request an Invoice at the Dell website.

Thanks to Homer_Simpson for the rebate link and tyoung88 for the information about getting an invoice.

UPDATE: THIS DEAL IS DEAD!

I'm actually surprised that it took Dell so long to put an end to this deal. I see a lot of you were able to take advantage of this find. Thanks to RobsTV for an incredible ink source to go with this incredible deal. Enjoy your printers and let us know what else you find!

Is shipping free for this item? I clicked the "estimate shipping charges" button and selected all 3 shipping methods: Next day, 2 day and ground...all of them end up at $0.00. Is this right?

you seem to be the printer expert... so I have some questions for you--

Is this one better than the 870? I think this is 4 ink but I can't keep up with all their models and how they rank.
This isn't a *photo* printer like the 870, right? Does it also have the chipped cartridge?

Thanks

I already ordered this one
Can anyone find a difference between the Epson 880 listed in the Home Section vs. the Small Office Section? All the specs are identical. So why would it be $50 cheaper in the Small Business section? Oh well, I took the risk.

Pl confirm that the rebate is valid when purchasing thru dell because the rebate form says

: if you are purchasing at Staples, you must use its form and submit your rebate claim through its in-store procedures. Other retailers may also require use of their own in-store coupon, rather than this coupon, to claim this Epson rebate. Please check with the retailer at time of purchase.
.

Thanks

My friend bought the 870 that was the buy.com DOTD a couple of days ago. Is this one better? I think this is 4 ink but I can't keep up with all their models and how they rank.

The 880 is a 4 color printer. Not sure about the chipped cartridge though..

stingygrrl «Is this one better? »

You can't really make a direct comparison because, as you noted, the Epson 870/875 is a 6-color photo-printer and the 880 is a regular text/graphics printer. The 880 is the current model with a maximum resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi while the 870 is last year's and has a maximum resolution of 1440 x 720. The difference is not really evident to the naked eye though and the 870's photo output is still much more impressive. The 880 uses a non-chipped cartridge. Which printer is "better" really depends on how the printer will be used. They are both much better than the 7XX line and we're seeing good deals in several places.

ShotgunSi «Can anyone find a difference between the Epson 880 listed in the Home Section vs. the Small Office Section?»

I wondered about that too. The listing in the SOHO section includes a link to a non-existent rebate form. That's why I did not include the rebate in my calculations.

sanjayraj «Pl confirm that the rebate is valid when purchasing thru dell because the rebate form says»

Why don't you take the initiative to research that and let us know what you find?

this is a great deal, folks...this is is a good printer, and consumables are (relatively) inexpensive for how long they last. I love mine (and got it for $70...which was a great deal then...now this is a VERY hot deal).

I called Dell and ordered the printer. The sales rep said that it is free shipping for the standard ground 3-5 days. The other options are $8 for 2nd day and $14 for next day. So I ordered on the phone with the free shipping. He also had to do a price adjustment since the website had that price. So order while you can! They may change the website price soon. You can't beat this deal! $30 shipped!

Thanks for the post!

My printer died last week, so this is an awesome deal for me.

so now I will have 2 printers...

i need my printer soon, so I can print out the rebate

EDIT: these ink carts. are $26 at staples, where's a good place to get ink, anyone had luck using refill kits. PM me with info if you are offended by such OT forum use.

Thanks Athena for the "Heads-up".
I like $64.00 printers.
(The ones that don't take $30 ink cartridges.)

Is definitely a great deal!!!!

But does it match the specs. of Staples deal.
STAPLES:
Items in box include: Printer Software ArcSoft PhotoImpression 2000, ArcSoft PhotoMontage 2000, EPSON Software Film Factory, Trellix Web and Color & Black ink cartridge.

Also, doesn't mention whether cable is included or not. I'm very new to this forum and new to Internet as well. Pardon my ignorance.

pulled from the cnet link:

"I bought this printer specifically because it was so cheap to use. one black cart & one color cart costs me a total of $11. I use compatible ink carts and they work fine. You can also get genuine epson photo paper for $20 for 100 sheets at costco. This printer is the cheapest way to go. I didn't buy the other epson photo printers because there is a chip on the ink carts and you can't get the cheaper compatible ink carts for them yet."

Getting hotter.

A Cheap and GOOD printer, cant beat that.

thanks.

Nowadays no printer wil lcome with printer cable, neither for USB or for parallel port. You have to get it your own.

Great post, just bought one @ Staples yesterday with coupon, this one will go to my Father-in-Law.

I have an Epson 740, and the 880 is >2X faster & quieter to boot...

The best way to avoid being an annoyance is to do some research before you post a question. You can use the search feature for the forum, follow links in messages, consult the manufacturer's web sites, and use your favorite search engine to find out more information.

You might also want to go to your profile for this forum (link at the top of the page) and turn on the private messaging function so people can clue you in without posting a public message.

Pliablemoose «just bought one @ Staples yesterday with coupon »

You might want to see if you can catch that order -- add a cartridge and request a pricematch to the base Dell price. You should be able to get the printer + cartridge for about $50 after rebate.
