***¡DEAD!*** VERY HOT!! Epson 880 printer - $33.20 after rebate

I attempted to PM at Staples to 20% off $79 price at Dell.com, but the manager had to call Dell for shipping costs, and the CSR at Dell.com told Staples that it is $129. Anyway I see it, Staples is going to have to call Dell for shipping costs, and they will find out that the real price is $129, not the $79 shown on the website. I will attempt at two more Staples stores tomorrow, if not successful, I will buy from Dell.

Two questions:

1. Why is it so cheap at $79? Is it a refurbed or what?

2. Will the rebate work if you purchase at Staples?

Thanks Athena, it seems like a great deal.

I placed my order about 9 mins ago. I selected next day delivery b/c they were all free supposedly. I will confirm after i get my final confirmation email. I have 2 emails thus far. I live in Texas so i had to pay tax. I guess only benefit is i'll get mine REALLY early. LOL. Anyways, thanks.

Total was 68.xx after my mail in rebate it will be 38.xx, as you know. So is this still better than buying 2 Epson 480SX's for 40 bucks? i hope this printer is really good.

2)ON left side, type in the followin SKU number: 215437


3)Order w/next day if you're ballsy like me

Hassel? Why, i don't see any. If you mean getting MIR, here is the rebate form in Staple Version.

Before ordering online I went to my local Staples with my printouts in hand. The CSR was ringing me up for the pricematch and got a screen calling for a manager code. She called him over and he looked at the printout and said we can't PM Dell.com. I said, I thought you PMed internet pricing? He said, Only if there is a local outlet i.e. Best Buy, Sears, CC and so on. I then asked, when did that change happen? He said about 2 months ago. So I said thanks and walked away. For the $5.50 I would save after $10 coupon + Tax I decided it was not worth the trouble of arguing.

Has anyone else heard about this supposed change in PMing policy?

I got 2 confirmation emails from Dell. The second included the order # and expected ship date on or before 7/02.

I bet this is a pricing error, or they require you to buy a computer from them to get that price. $79 is already a hot price for this. 20% +$30 MIR is flaming hot. I hope I won't get a denial email.....

Assuming we do eventually get the printer on backorder at least we shouldn't have to worry about the rebate. I think it's valid til sometime in Sept.

[*]The Brick &amp; Mortar policy is not the same as the one for Staples.com and the match is always at the discretion of the store manager.
[*]We had a rather graphic posting in this forum today that illustrated the fallibility of customer provided documents and why printouts cannot be assumed to be valid proof of a valid match. You may recall the big Kodak DC4800 fiasco in April that resulted in matches to an invalid price at Camera Sound and faked documentation to prolong the dead deal; episode that was no doubt responsible for some disturbing monthly results for that product manager. After that incident, all Staples managers were advised to tighten up on their matching procedures for Internet deals. Unfortunately, most stores do not have readily available Internet access and cannot verify Internet offerings or check stock availability themselves so a lot of them are now just automatically refuse all matches to Internet vendors.

The revenue lost from price matching comes directly out of the store manager's bottom line; there is no corporate compensation as there is for the coupons. Whether or not he wants to take the hit is completely up to him.
