Anyone have any processors that they don't want? Im collecting them to have in a glass table top as a conversation piece. I think it would be cool to see all different kinds of cpu's through the years. Doesn't matter how old or new.

I have an AMD K6 CPU, as well as a Tualatin Celeron.

DigitalPersona U.are.U 4000 fingerprint reader from the corporate junk heap. Installed drivers by allowing Windows XP to look up on the web. The reader lit up. Installed Microsoft fingerprint software, fingerprints could NOT be read successfully. Web research suggests that the DigitalPersona readers encrypt the data whereas the Microsoft reader does not; that may or may not be the reason for the failure.

I have one it is a little dirty It was in a Compaq case I believe. Looks pretty standard to me. Can take pictures if you need.

I believe I have both an AGP and a PCI card. Might have a spare or two SATA cables around as well. Looking for anything special on the video card?

Working would be good... Seriously, I'm doing some freebie upgrades for my neighbor and her mother, and they both have old Pentium 4 SFF systems using integrated Via graphics, so as you can see, the situation is nearly desperate.

Well, I have some older ones, wasn't sure if there are any special requirements as the ones I have are older than that system.

I'd be glad to have 'em, no requirement as both these PC's are running XP, and are used for basic web, email and recipe-sharing.

Anyone have a serial cable? Yes, SERIAL, not SATA..... DB9 female to DB9 female preferred, but i'll consider anything with at least one female end on it.

I got (2) 6' of the male/female kind for sure.

Have some old junk in an outside shed, which I can check tomorrow.
I know a seen a female/female cable before in that pile, but it may have been a printer type cable.

-----------

douglasb - Socket 939 Athlon 64 3000+

I got a Gateway with a no video/boot up situation. Everything tested OK.
The only two items I couldn't test is the CPU and the mobo.
That model has a known problem of the FICA mobo crapping out.
I am 90% sure it's the mobo, but could still be the s939 Athlon 64 CPU it has.

IOW's taking the cpu may prove nothing more than to verify the mobo is junk
Then I would have 2 cpu's to find a good home for.
Anyway, if nobody has a dying need for it, I'll take it. (likely to be reposted for grabs).

let me know, i'm still looking. As I said, F/F preferred but i'll take what I can get with at least 1 F end so I can cut it and make it work.

Yup, the cable I saw before was a printer type.

Just got the (2) 9-pins that I can find.
There is a difference between the 2, not just brand.
One has the female end with the usual hex nut like on a mobo connector.
The other has the thumb screws on the female side (like the male).

So one is an extender, the other ? The sockets are normal.
The thumb pins can be removed.
I bet a hex nut thing can be inserted where the thumb screw goes.
I think I got those hex nuts too.

Like I said, I'll take ANYTHING with at least a single DB9 female end so I can splice it, or a F/F double DB9 will allow me to plug right from the com port into the controller card.
