This is my second post about catching someone doing a crime and leading the police to them (I do not recommend tailing a perp for anyone, there is a great deal of potential risk!).

I was next to a Grand Marquis GS today that was driving like a madman. He has also constantly downing something I couldn't make out. Dark shades and a ball cap, looked about 50ish.

He finally is next to me with a guy in a Jeep Cherokee in front of him and I told my fiancee to call the police as this guy is about to hit the other one. Sure enough about 5 seconds or so later, he rearends the Jeep and sends him off the road. I got the police on the line and gave them the details. Followed him to a local Costco where he pulled in. I had to leave due to another priority, but was going to swing back around in about 30 mins to the accident site.

Another good samaritan also followed him, but wasn't so great with the details. With my information (vehicle, tag number, tag expiration, a description of the guy and who he hit) they were able to confront him when he came out of the store.

Technically, I think he should have been charged with DUI and fleeing a scene, but the police followed him home.

Me and the other person were the only two to report the accident, there were at least 20 others right there when it happened.

No one wants to use their cellphone to help anyone. I am sure many took pics and videos of the situation though.

Not exactly. I have been under the barrel of a cop's gun a few times.

Each time they were at fault.

I am not that easy to beat down.

Bullshit. If officers pulled their duty weapons out of their holsters and pointed them at you and you continued being confrontational ("not that easy to beat down") you'd be dead. Regardless of whose "fault" it was.

i was alluding to you narcing on a cop and having them go after you.

I have though...fortunately I know some cops too and some of the people where a few dumbass ones decided I was in the wrong whether it was the car I was in, my hairstyle, etc.

I am a bit more conservative now in my looks...

Ok, I doubt any cop is going to shoot someone in Palm Beach in front of CitiBank when the whole office came out to see...because my tint was too dark.

Also, I have been in a gun versus hand to hand fight. Knives are better.

Stop being so fucking mad!

Tint being too dark isn't going to make an officer draw a gun on you... and seems like a silly reason to get so worked up and confrontational that an officer draws his weapon (i.e. interprets you as a deadly threat). Though I suppose you could have been a real jackass about it.

Guns and knives have their pros and cons. Though I carry both, I prefer to avoid situations which would require me to use either one of them. So nope, not mad.

Agreed, I'd very much loathe to get blood on the pocket knife I got from my father, or my clothes for that matter. It's such a pain to get blood out of clothing.

Good job Alky. I am sure the guy whose Jeep ended up in the ditch appreciates it. I know I tease you a bunch here but despite your ego I do think deep down you're a good guy. Keep doing what you do.

do the states have the same laws as here?

what i mean is, insurance does not cover you if you are involved in an accident while under the influence.

do you guys have that?

I have done this. I have zero tolerance for driving drunk. This guy actually made it home to his parents house. I followed while on the phone with the cops. He got into bed for about 5 minutes before he was hauled out by the police.

I did basically the same thing about 4 years ago, was heading home from 2nd shift and saw a dude so drunk he was bouncing off the curb on the medium and swerving across both lanes, several co-workers use the same road to go to 3rd shift so I called him to the FHP who got there quickly and caught him, if you wanna get skunk-drunk that's your business but stay the fuck off the road asshole.
