$0.25 Palm V Portable Keyboard at OD B&M (Clearance)

So I stopped in Office Depot (Eau Claire, WI) to get the Imation CDR/Slim case deal and I saw some Palm V portable keyboards in the clearance section marked down to $2.58 from $9.99 w/ an additional 50% off. Now seeing as these are retailed at $99.99 and don't usually sell for less than $50-$60 I asked the lady how much they were. Here reply: A quarter! No kidding.

I asked her if this was nationwide, but she didn't know. All she knew was that they were stopping carrying them tomorrow (Friday) so they wanted to sell them rather than send them back to their distributor. For a quarter its worth at least a look. Good luck.

P.S. None left at the Eau Claire store; I grabbed two and someone was just calling in about the third.

Palm Vx is still serving me quite well, in spite of its "old and outdated" technology. Once the market produces handhelds that can store and run PowerPoint presentations (one is out now), that is when I will switch (soon in other words, once the prices come down). Meanwhile, I am content with my old and outdated, but perfectly functional Palm Vx.

The old Palm series (III/V/VII) still does a lot of things the newer ones do, including all the essential functions. I wouldn't discount them as lesser PDAs.

My OD had hot sync cradles for less than $2 and pkgs of 3 styli for $.68 and other Palm V accessories dirt cheap. So YMMV, but worth checking out if you have a V.

I perfectly agree with you, my Palm Vx serves me very well. For multimedia purposes, I did own a couple of Sony Clies, and now an Ipaq (big mistake, the Clies are far superior due to their superior design, and no glitches), but the reality is that all the essential is in my Palm Vx, which is the only PDA that truly holds in a shirt pocket without feeling too heavy or bulky. The foldable keyboard is one of the best accessories I bought, along with the wireless modem. For a quarter, you might as well buy two, keep one in the car, one in your travel bag

Yes, they did. It rang up as $9.99, then they discounted $9.99, then they put in $0.25. I'd scan the receipt but i'm at work for the summer and my scanner is at home.

EBay, perhaps. For a quarter? Pick up as many of them as you can and hold a dutch auction or something. You're bound to make *something*...

first of all, this deal belongs in Brag and Moan since it is definitely not at all Office Depots. I know this because I talked to the manager of mine.

second, we don't have to start discussing the technology... to each his own. i personally love my palm vx keyboard, but its not for everyone...

and finally... just go to Office Depot and check the clearance table (if there is one) because there are great deals every so often. I got one cent lightbulbs before, and one cent envelopes, but it wasn't worth posting on AT. just go check your local store for yourself.

Even if it's "local" at the moment...give it time...

Office Depot usually send out clearance items to all their stores. But depending on computer time, managers, staff, it takes awhile to filter down to other stores. But they usually follow.

MY local OD just had Palm V modems on clearance at $1.88. And most of the older Palm stuff, like III or V stylus were .88c .

If your store has these items still, then just wait it out if your interested.


IN my area, we have 5 OD's. Two are always current with clearance, one alittle behind, and the last 2 are always last putting up a clearance sign.

No joy in Atlanta. One local store had a lot of Palm V keyboards, stylus packs and screen protector packs in the Clearance area... but all at MUCH highr prices than mentioned here. Keyboards, $75. SCreen protectors, $12. Etc. The registers are still showing it at full retain, $100 for kbd.

I asked the Manager to call in for a price check to HQ... we'll see.

My motto is "Never say NO for the other person." Make your request, no matter how outlandish, and let him answer. He may say YES, he may compromise, or he may say NO, in which case you are no worse off.
