Bare leads, meaning you have to add a connector on the end, or connect them to a rheobus.

The fans have 2 wires, going to small 4 pin connectors. Pin 1 is unused, and has a plug in it. Pins 2 and 4 are connected to the red wire (it loops around the top of the connector) and Pin 3 is connected to the black wire.

The connectors themselves look similar to floppy PSU connectors (but are not identical.) The ones on the fans are slightly smaller, and the pins are closer together.

rch4001 - I don't even use the connectors. I pull it out of that "holder" connector and have to strip the wire and then connect it to either a 3 pin or 4 pin molex or sometimes even straight into an open plug.

Grizybaer - I bought these long time ago at $.39. They are a great value. At full 12v they are probably around 33db(not sure but comparable to AMD retail fans) and probably about 35cfm. I run these at 7V and they push a fair amount of air. My best guess would be around 25 cfm. The air isn't focused air, meaning the air doesn't go perpendicular to the face of the fan but neither is the Panasonic L1A. The noise is very quiet at probably 25 db however they have a very very slight ticking sound if you run them at 7v, not really noticeable however.

Heheh, yup . I was gonna say "about average." As AirJames said, they do seem to flow a lot of air - more than the fans they are replacing. I'm running them at a full 12v, so they are audible, but not "above-average" volume. I bought these to use as replacements for seized fans in some old PSUs I had laying around - I cut off the goofy connectors that were on there, and cut n' spliced the connectors from my old fans onto the new ones. If these were generic PSUs, they woulda got tossed, but one was a $90 Enermax 431w I bought a few years ago, and the other was an Antec 430w, about the same age. These were expensive units that still had lots of life left, so I thought it was worth the $0.39 to get each of them running again. My PC operates 24/7 in a veritable dust pit, so it eats fans, and requires constant cleaning - hence the reason I bought 10 of these. Never hurts to have spares .

I too have ordered these fans from Directron. You can actually use the strange connectors. The wires connect to metal slots like telephone wire push downs. You pull the wires up and then push them back down on the correct connector. The plastic connectors will fit standard three pin fan connectors on motherboards. You might have to snip some plastic off of the top of the male connector (not the pin) to get a snug fit.

These are high quality NMB fans and were probably made for a special purpose like for a server. The grills are attached to the fan body with plastic rivets that you can remove and use to mount fans instead of using normal fan screws. I've heard that the plastic rivets help reduce fan vibration noise.

If you order these you will have to add something to get you to the minimum order price of $15.

Or use rubber or nylon washers in between the fan and the mounting surface.

I wish they had 80mm also. Just can't use that many 92mm fans.

Black88GTA, you seem to be having bad luck with fan failures. Doesn't sound normal. Also, FYI, when you post, make sure the 'Auto parse URLs' option is clicked. HTH.

I have used 2 cases of these fans. They are nice for the price. The connector is very tiny, like the power connectors inside of a walkman or diskman. If you use a pick, you can make the holes on the connector bigger and the will fin on motherboard fan headers, or you can remove the connector and just slide the metal contacts over the motherboard fan headers.

these fans are nice and quiet at 12v and SILENT at 7v.
